what card could I go for (secured is fine) that I'd likely get with my shady credit history, that reports to the bureaus & I can make payments online to?

Why not get another Cap1 card? I had three, just combined them all into one....original limit was200 on 2 accounts and #3 was $300 now I have one gold with a cl of $1900...none were secured....

Sooner or later they will send you applications if you are good with them.

I have a perfect history with them on joint account with dh. Applied for my own secured card and they turned me down. How discouraging is that!!???

Hubby applied for a Visa (we have a mc), just like the rep told him to. and was turned down because of the way he applied.

I am not applying for anything else with them. Going to wait and try for a card with the cu.

I understand that it is possible to have multiple cards with them, just not for me!

    doodyhead,

Eight years ago I had a secured card with Cap1 and they sent me pre-approval for unsecured card about three years ago. I got approved for $1000 with annual fee $29. It helped me to rebuild my credit fast with 2 cap1 cards. I still keep unsecured card for long credit history and I cancelled the secured card because it served its purpose.

Sorry, Doodyhead. I should not have gone on about my problem with Cap1. We are happy with them for the account we have, they just don't think I'm good enough to have a secured card of my own and I am angry!
