Who has had success with getting deletions because the CA was bonded. I was anticipating a lot of success stories but we've only seen one. I am waiting for my reply from the CA.

I posted my success story but here it is again. I called on a company called American Collections located in Wa and found they were not licensed and bonded to collect in the state of FL. I sent them a certified letter, using the one in the credit net library of letters, basically saying give me your license number and verify that I owe you this money. I sent it on the 2nd of January and by the 9th, it had been deleted from my TU and EQ reports. There were two collections showing from this company and on my TU report, it boosted my score from 515 to 545 but, unfortunately, didn't move my EQ score at all. But at least they're gone!

I have a question. Did you happen to notice whether or not this CA was pulling your credit report? If they did (especially EQU) I would send them another letter saying "seeing as you aren't licensed and never proved the debt you were trying to collect was mine, then you had NO permissible purpose to pull my credit report." They can't just pull someone's credit report cause they THINK you owe them money. Catch my drift? :)

KHM, fortunately, they weren't pulling my report. They just kept verifying the debt until I found out about the licensed and bonded thing

How do you find out if a company is bonded to conduct business in a specific state?

From what I gather, some states require CA's to be bonded. For example, I've read that the bond in Georgia is $50,000. Some CA's ignore the law and don't pay. This means that they can not conduct any type of collection activity including reporting to CRA's. Check your states attorney general's office to find out if there is a bond requirement and which state agency monitors. I also check to see if your state has a consumer credit office. They should be able to answer all your question.
