deposit a balance transfer check to someones account. Ask for a balance transfer but deposit to your account (MBNA does this no problems). Charge expenses and save the cash to pay for whatever you need. If time isn't an issue theres many other ways just laundering your money through various online payment systems.
Two paypal accounts.. Send $$ via a CC transaction to the other and then withdraw. They will get there fee from the receiving account. I'm sure it's alot cheaper than doing a cash advance. Also might take a while to setup the accounts to get a sizable amount from them. Western Union somoneone some money. I'm sure theres limits. With Yahoo Paydirect you were able to fund your own account with $$ then withdraw it. You can't fund your own account anymore. However I'm sure you can use the two account approach still.
Love EXCELLENT QUESTION! Not to steal your post, but I have a quick question! I have an overdraft of $500 that linked up to my checking (obviously). Well I don't owe anything on it and right now the balance is $0, but I want to purchase a car and put $1500 down, can I do a BT to my O/D even though it's paid off?
You can also do a bt from card A to card B. If card A has a zero balance before you do this, you will have a credit on the account. Then call up card A and ask for a refund to be mailed to you. btw - Discover required the credit balance to be there for about 2 weeks before they will mail the refund. Everybank is different on the timing.
Romanduv, what do you consider abuse? I am thinking about a 3000 advance on a card with a 3500 limit. Does that qualify? <<Please say no>>
I wtd. to dig this thread back up to see if anyone knows any more about the subject? Last weekend I got a haircut at my normal place, mentioned I missed the bank before they closed, the girl said she could put some cash on my CC if I wanted. I only took $100 but what a great perk! (I'm pretty sure they're not supposed to do that) I truly, truly miss Currency To Go. And free C2it, and free MoneyZap, and X.com, and alllllll the others that have gone the way of the dodo. What about B&M stores? Do any stores offer money back at the register, or is that a pipe dream? Just curious . . .
The best way is the two Paypal accounts. The one problem is the transaction cost. I think it is 1.5%...i did a 10K cash advance using this method with my American Express Gold card. Did this for business reasons....but it worked like a charm.
OVER-PAY A CREDIT CARD WITH A BT...THEN ASK FOR A CHECK REFUND... BUT DON'T OVER-PAY AMEX~~~THEY THREATENED TO CLOSE MY ACCOUNT FOR OVER-PAYING!!! THAT IS A TOTALLY STUPID IDEA TO CLOSE SOMEBODY'S ACCOUNT BECAUSE THEY OVER-PAY!!! I HAD BEEN DOING THIS FOR YEARS...NOBODY EVER THREW A "HISSY" UNTIL AMEX... You can BT to your checking with MBNA ($50.00 fee~~was $30.00 or $40.00)
I think the whole idea behind asking this question is INSTANT GRATIFICATION because "I am short on cash this week, but get paid next week and don't want to pay 25% for a check cashing service" type of thing
Actually, my main reason for asking the question is that I'm trying to rack up air miles far beyond my means. I'm vacationing this x-mas and would love dearly to take with me a nice stockpile of miles.
A trick I used to do is buy a Home Depot gift card for $100 and buy something for $10. They would give you $90 in cash as change. Wait a few days and return the $10 item and get cash. In CA the Home Depot try to give you credit as change instead of cash because everyone was doing this. It may still work in other parts of the US.
Don't you just keep the $90.00 on the card??? The $100.00 is NOT tendered, ONLY the total purchase price comes off the card...LIKE $10.32...LEAVING $89.68 FOR THE NEXT TIME YOU USE IT...
In some stores they keep the $90 on the card , but some of them give you $90 in cash. It depends if you have one of the older cards that are for 1 time use then you get the cash as change. On the newer cards you don't get any cash.
