The letter I posted the other day (thread was deleted) WORKED!! I sent it to 7 creditors via PFB. Citibank called today and said the 2 inquiries on my Equifax would be removed within 7 days, Roadloans.com sent me an email asking for my address to mail my $1,000....lmao. All I wanted was the inquiry removed. I'll see what happens with the other 5 creditors. I can get around Equisux.
Congratulation! Please email me the letter. Christi you are going to be the creditnet success story of the year!
Christie Me too Please! I need all the pointers I can get with those people Thanks PS Why was the thread deleted?
As per my Experian credit report, Citibank, obtained my credit file on 7/18/01. I don't recall applying for credit, employment or insurance with Citibank, NA. From the FCRA § 616. Civil liability for willful noncompliance [15 U.S.C. § 1681n] "(b) Civil liability for knowing noncompliance. Any person who obtains a consumer report from a consumer reporting agency under false pretenses or knowingly without a permissible purpose shall be liable to the consumer reporting agency for actual damages sustained by the consumer reporting agency or $1,000, whichever is greater." From the 1998 FTC opinion letter Greenblatt at http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fcra/greenblt.htm "Any person who procures a consumer report under false pretenses, or knowingly without a permissible purpose, is liable for $1000 or actual damages (whichever is greater) to both the consumer and to the consumer reporting agency from which the report is procured." Please explain your permissible purpose for your obtaining my credit file. Should you not have a permissible purpose, please arrange for payment of $1,000 by January 29, 2002. Sincerely, Christi I sent this to the original creditors via BBB & PFB. PS I dont know why the thread was deleted.
Re: Inquiry dispute letter worked.. This is a great letter! As usual, the very best letters aren't "gimmicky credit repair" attempts but instead are solid statements and requests which are well-grounded in law. You were matter-of-fact, polite, and assertive. But you know all that, lol. Anyway, way to go, and thanks! Doc
Christi, Did you send this letter to all of the creditors that looked at your credit? PS: I'm still thinking about your email. I won't forget you. I promise.
Re: Inquiry dispute letter worked.. Great thinking, Christi! Thanks for sharing the letter. Were any of the inquiries legitimate?
Re: Inquiry dispute letter worked.. I don't hardly think so With a FICO of 432 1 yr ago there was NO way in heck I would have embarrased myself to apply for anything!! Equifax is stalling as I have already sent them an intent to sue letter over inquiries. They have about 9 more days and the suit will be filed. In the meantime, the creditors may take them off.
