I know all the negative comments associated with this one, but for those of us in subprime hell still I have some questions....and they've been good to me, started at $350...now $1200cl....anyway, 1. Has anyone been upgraded to gold or silver preferred? 2. Has anyone tried requesting through PFB, I've had no success with customer service. Unfortunately, I have to make the best out of my bad situation, so if I can improve what I've got I'd be happy. Thanks in advance for suggestions.
how long did it take to get to that limit? i have the national express account (not a cc ) it went from 500 to 850 in 4 months. thx, kelly
Mine is gold and it was that way when I first got it 6 months ago. My limit is the same lousy $350 as when I got it. Soup, if your's is up to $1200 and you've been paying it properly, that is, you've never had a balance higher than 35% of your credit limit and you don't normally ever pay it down to $0, then your credit report should be able to get you another (better) card somewhere else. Even if you can't cross over to prime (and you probably can) there are othe much better subprime cards that you can get quickly.
I got a $350 increase in September which made my limit $700....then in December another $500...which brings me to $1200.... superadman, I have the mager subprime cards, haven't been approved yet for anything prime, if you have a suggestion I be happy to hear it, here's where I've and now what I've got: ORIGINALLY First Premier Bank.....250 Cross Country.....350 Cap 1 classic.......200 Cap 1 classic.....200 Cap 1 gold.....300 Getsmart....500 Target.....200 NOW FPB....250 hate them CCB...1200 Cap1 classic(oldest tradeline) converted to gold 1900 getsmart....500 target....600 Any suggestions, anyone???
Superadman, what better card do you think I can get? I still have 2 collection accounts on all 3 reports.... interested in your opinion
When I had a CCB card, I was upgraded from regular to silver preferred after one year. As for the Gold, there is no difference. That is what they told me, no difference between gold and silver. Hell, no difference between silver and regular for all I can tell. I did get my limit raised for free using PFB, I PFB them 5 or 6 times, same letter, just copied and pasted. Hope that helps. I ended up cancelling after 1 1/2 years, got prime cards now. Matt
I started with a CCB gold card about five months ago with a $300 limit. 45 days into it they gave me a $150 increase even though I was over my limit. A month ago, they told me they'd give me a $350 limit if I let them hit me for $100 for the increase. This continues to happen despite me being over my limit almost all the time. I travel a lot and $800 isn't enough to cover my expenses. I hate the fees but so far they've been pretty good to me.
I've been away from my computer for several hours and I just saw your question soup. I have some of theose same cards that you have but I would also try Orchard Bank and First National Bank of Marin. There is another subprime card out there that I've heard good things about called the Action bank card. http://www.actionbankcard.com But you really shouldn't have more than six active revolving accounts for maximum rapid score growth. Hopefully you will soon get a prime card or 2 and then you can cut up that 1st Premiere Bank crap. When my scores first passed 660 I would have begun to get prime cards but my BK continues to hold me back regardless of high scores. I'm going to lick that BK yet. By the way, that Action Bank card is issued by BankFirst. Does anyone know what bureau they pull? What there approval requirements are?
ACTION BANK?! By the way, that Action Bank card is issued by BankFirst. Does anyone know what bureau they pull? What there approval requirements are?
Anyone know about this?
Re: ACTION BANK?! Anyone know about this?
Forget it, their fees are ridiculous, just looked at their website! I'll wait 2 months and be prime! (Hopefully!!
Re: ACTION BANK?! No if's, and's or but's. Cross Country Bank is to be avoided at all costs. Even if all you can get is a secured Capital One - do it, it would still be 10 times better. My Experian is 726 (Amex, Citi, Chase, Bank of America) BUT - when I started my journey on May 2000, a secured Capital One was all I could get at the time. Just because your score is lousy at this point in time, is no excuse to take your business to the worst among the worst. If you stay there, don't delude yourself that this would help build your credit. For CCB you are nothing but a cow ready to be milked anytime. And frankly, as long as people are willing to take it, CCB's concept if probably right. http://www.jerrydj.com/CCB http://www.epinions.com/finc-Credit...s_Country_Bank/display_~reviews/listype_~opnr Saar
Re: ACTION BANK?! Saar, I have searched for that post you made a few months ago about your success. How you started with a secured Cap One etc. If you know where it is, will you bump it so I can read it again. My niece (19) finally got a Capital One $300 limit and this is her very first credit of any kind. She is hoping to build from here and I wanted to print out how you did it to show her. Thanks
Re: ACTION BANK?! Christi, I don't think I've posted a comprehensive, timelined message outlining my progress. Someday I'll write a book Saar
Re: ACTION BANK?! Oh I just thought you posted one time about how you started with Cap One secured and in a few months of paying your score was up and you were able to get prime cards or something? Maybe I dreamed that.......lol.
Re: ACTION BANK?! I agree with Saar, cap1 can help you build and Cross Country Bank sucks, no if ands or... but here's the "but": Cross Country Bank has been spanked pretty hard by customer dissatisfaction, and complaints by several states attorneys general as well as consumer affairs departments and consumer advocates alike. Because of all the pressure, Cross Country Bank has probably improved a little. I say this because I have heard some terrible things and I have seen some terrible posts about their scofflaw hoodlum tactics. Nevertheless I took a stab at their card. In the 5 months I've had it, I have had no problems whatsoever.
