A creditor who I reported to the BBB for ignoring my requests for inquiry proof called and left me a voice mail today. She admits they have no record of anything on me, but wants to see my credit report in its entirity so they can delete the two inquiries pulled. Her number has shown up on my caller ID sixteen times in the past three days, but today is the first time a message was left. What should I do?
PROCEED WITH CAUTION... YOU MUST PROVE NOTHING... If you MUST send a copy of your credit report, cover with white paper ALL but the inquires...and then make a copy on the copy machine.
She claims it's to prove my claim that they inquired into my credit report twice without authorization. She says she must see the ENTIRE report to delete them.
I changed my mind...DON'T EVEN SEND THE WHITED OUT COPY... Send them a------------>FINAL NOTICE BEFORE SUIT IS FILED...
Maybe try another BBB online letter, with the new info: They admit they should not have placed the inquiries, and they will not remove them. called house 16 times in 3 days, etc. Maybe that will make them delete? Threaten to send the threaten to sue letter, too.
And these two inquiries are truly NOT authorized. I called and asked them to MAIL me an application and made it clear I wasn't applying. They yanked my report twice anyway.
This same exact thing happened to me. I told the lady I want a letter stating that they would delete before I give them anything. She refused. She actually stated the same thing in the message "we can't find an account because there are 3 other people with your name in our system" Needless to say, I anxiously awaited the BBB response from them. The dummies stated that I was "uncooperative" bc I refused to give SS# and account # and credit report. I am sending my letters to the BBB showing that I gave them the account #. The other 2, I dont think so. Name address and account # are enough info!!! Anyway, I would save the answering machine message, and await the BBB response. You can get a deletion if they give a messed up response in the BBB letter. You may even consider using the message to send to the CRA's. "We can not verify..etc etc" is not a proper proof. By the way, mine was not for inquiries, but for a collection acct.
Send them Christi's inquiry letter. It states that either delete or pay $1000. They'll delete in a heartbeat. Charlie
I agree with George. Send them an "intent to sue" letter. You should get a deletion and $1K without having to jump through their hoops.
