DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE A PASSPORT???

One day when it was very busy at the POST OFFICE, I was just reading paperwork on the counters including a PASSPORT application...

IT SAID SS#, SO I PUT IT BACK WHERE I FOUND IT!!!

I'M NOT APPLYING FOR THE "PASSPORT" CREDIT CARD!!!

Well George, we could always do the US Virgin Islands... I've been to St Thomas but not St John yet... and it's secluded. Good spot for covert credit discussions :)

or actually, better yet, Nassau. We could all stay at Paradise Island / Atlantis :) Now that is an amazing resort with a very impressive casino and shopping right in the resort !!!

but then you'd still have to get a passport, I think. Funny, I like seeing how many stamps I can get in my passport. I hate the EU... I wanted stamps crossing each border (I had to BEG for one in Italy even at the airport).

Dani, I'm hurt <sniff, sniff>, but not surprised.

Should we decide on NJ, the Seaview Marriot and the Southern Mansion in Cape May County have some of the finest amenities & breathtaking views.

But the Cayman Islands will do just as well. Once my credit is perfect a la GEORGE, my next step is to keep the IRS' greedy fingers as far away from my $$ as possible.

O.k. after reading through all of these posts....I'm really down for anything but I think Vegas would be the best.

I think I'll vote for Vegas! Although if it ends up being somewhere else, I'm down for that too....I have FF miles so...

I think this would be an interesting opportunity. You never know who might decide to show up!

I bet thats wrong, I bet MORE people live in the west ( I'm in PHX) If every Illegal got counted just from here and CA...our figures would probably be more like 59.5% here and 40.5% there.....LOL

I'd vote for Las Vegas. But even NJ sounds fun. As long as it's not here in Phx....I wanna travel somewhere. :)I think we need to give some notice though. I think the more people that go, the more fun it's going be. And for most of us...a few weeks isn't enough time...We need to scrap up some money, i don't know about everyone else but I just recovered from Christmas Last week, LOL.
I've never been to Hawaii...but they sure have alot of specials going there, hint, hint.....:)

Ok time to put my 2 cents in this topic!

Since I am an Island girl, I am strongly in favor of going to the Carribean. The beaches are lovely, there is plenty of sun and fun (I think Paradise Island would be lovely:)

I think the idea is great and I would love to meet the Creditnet Crew!!!

It's sooo funny, I was thinking the same thing over the weekend.

I was thinking the Islands because it would be a great way to get away from everything meet our credit peers and just relax for a weekend of fun!

I am sure Vegas would also exciting, I have never been but also in the carribean, you can enjoy all the pleasures.

I would like to second that motion. The Caribbean is great year round. I live in Puerto Rico. You can travel here without a passport since it is a US possession. Great beaches, casinos, shopping, cuisine, hotels, weather, did I mention the beaches? All that at about 3 hours from NY, Atlanta. Raleigh and evel less from Miami.

Well, speaking for a poor Ph.D. (newly minted May 2001) who's just getting off the ground and spent every saved penny paying off big student loans (but, hey, I may be the only man in America who paid 'em off BEFORE I graduated due to some internet-related entrepeneurial success that left me debt-free but nearly broke again, lol)...

Anyway, speaking for myself, I would prefer an inexpensive destination. I would attend just for the privilege and pleasure of meeting some of my Creditnet "family" in person. What a blast! If there's a movement here to turn this into a more expensive luxury casino resort vacation, then I may have to opt out. :( (And what's a get-together without PsychDoc, c'mon...lol.) Here are my suggestions for relatively central locations that are driveable for many people or inexpensive to fly:

    1) Chicago (driveable for many; plus cheap air flights to and from the big city available)
    2) Atlanta (again, driveable for many; plus supercheap air flights available)
    3) Knoxville (yet again, driveable -- interstate highway hub; however flights are a bit more expensive than Chicago or Atlanta)

Chicago may well be more central than Atlanta and Knoxville (except for Floridians), and it has the distinction of having inexpensive plane fares.

I think I made Saar angry by dissing Las Vegas. (Sorry... sincerely... I'm just shilling for a more central location and less expensive locale. My wife commented, "Oh, yeah, LAS VEGAS is where I would take people who've had credit problems. 'No credit? Recovering compulsive spender? Visit beautiful Las Vegas -- we welcome you.' LOL.) Seriously, Expedia.com shows a round-trip flight to Las Vegas from Knoxville starts at $441. By comparison, round-trip flights to Chicago from here start at $122. What a difference! Just about everyone can afford a trip to Chicago.

I would really like to see this get off of the ground, but wouldn't it be great if it was in reach for everyone? For those of you who are looking for a Caribbean vacation, may I suggest that we postpone those plans until you've met a few of us under more inexpensive circumstances? (Then you can make a more informed judgment with respect to whether or not you would really WANT to spend your Caribbean vacation with some of the people you met, lol.)

    Thanks for reading,

    Doc

    Doc:

    A. $441 is hardly the market value for a domestic flight to Vegas, no matter where you are in the U.S.

    B. Creditnetting + Vegas works just right. I've been building my credit since 5/2000, and on my last trip to Vegas, I've spend just a little over $20 on gambling. Though, regrettably, there were some serious bucks spent on upscale hotel rooms, fine dining and "shop till you drop" strategy ;)

    I know, I'm myth ruiner :)

    Re: Annual Creditnet Posters gather

I cross-posted this to the other thread (and it's the last double-post from me, I promise, lol):

I just did a few more quick searches on Expedia.com and found these great deals to and from Chicago O'Hare:

Las Vegas (LAS) to Chicago round-trip: beginning at $201
Los Angeles (LAX) to Chicago round-trip: beginning at $220
New York (LAG) to Chicago round-trip: beginning at $193
Atlanta (ATL) to Chicago round-trip: beginning at $159
Miami (MIA) to Chicago round-trip: beginning at $243
Washington DC (IAD) to Chicago round-trip: beginning at $167
St. Louis (STL) to Chicago round-trip: begining at $127

I think you'll find that comparable sampling to and from Las Vegas really favors the west (LAX, SFO, SEA, etc.) at the expense of almost every east coast destination. Plus, for so many of us, Las Vegas isn't driveable (or else I'd love to go!). :)

I agree. Chicago is cold and Vegas can be cheaper if you do gamble. We get comp rooms at the Luxor and a few meals. Gambler rooms can go for as low as $39. I will be in Puerto Rico from 2/8 to 2/18, but I am also willing to go back just about anytime.

Chicago works for me. It's about a 6 hour drive from Cleveland. And you still have Riverboat gambling for the Vegas crew :)

Atlanta could work for me to. 13 hour drive (ouch).

Flights to Knoxville from various points around the US would be prohibitively expensive. I'm all for Vegas or Atlanta. Both have plenty of flights and both have inexpensive but nice hotel rooms.
