I think it's a great deal. I just signed up me and my wife for it today (Premium level). I don't fly AA but I got some 30000 miles in there ( I'm CO and NW Elite ) so I'm gonna pump it up :)

Ohh, by the way, I got approved for a personal loan with Citi :) It is my happy day :)

You need to open a checking account first then upgrade your card to AAdvantage

Many banks run a credit check when you apply for a checking account. I have an AMEX checking and they ran a credit check with experian when opened the account. I wonder if Citibank will?

Did AMEX tell you why they ran a credit check for a non-reporting checking account? I thought they only looked at CHEX systems for checking.

Ohhh, you are right, while opening the accounts, they pulled both of us on Equifax ( in Illinois )

According to AMEX I applied for overdraft protection which is a form of credit. They denied the overdraft protection but approved the regular checking.

Oh I am going to apply for AMEX Loc later this year when all my negs except a repo are gone. I'm counting being a great checking customer making a difference. I'll probably get an instant denial then I'll beg for reconsideration. Maybe Citi debit card holders can do the same ?
