I just logged on to the Citibank Cardmember services websites and I click on the limit increase. The websites response back the following messages:-

Congratulations! Your credit can be immediately increased by $1000.00 for a total new credit line of $2500.
During evaluation process, a credit bureau report was not pulled.

They increased my Citi Dividend Card without pulling any credit report and I do it every three to four months. I tried to increase the credit limit by pulling credit report and they denied me. I'm going to increase my other Citibank cards yet and I don't want to get denied on others.

Thanks, Ron, for posting this (and congrats)! After I read your post, I thought, hey, why not try it with my newly upgraded Plat Select? I got that message too--increase of $1500, bringing my total CL to $9750!

Citi has been very good to me. :)

    Beaker,
Congrats!!! You can request limit increase without pulling hard inquiry every three to six months. The system will tell you whether they pulled your credit report or not. If you need to fill out income, they will pull credit report on you.In my own experience they dnied you most of time. I haven't request credit limit increase on my other two cards. I did it on this one because the Dividend has the lowest credit limit.
Citi is one of my favorite and I like Citi.

I clicked my way from 15k to 17.5k without an inquiry. No income questions. No credit pull.

Both my CITI Plat cards were opened 10/1.I have made 3 payments on each, always 7-10 times more than the minimum. Is it too early to try for an increase?I don't want a hard inquiry pulled. Can I back out if I start to get the pop up screens asking for income? Is it true you need to be a customer for 6 months before a CL increase can be considered?

Just tried and received a message that the account has to be open 6 months before you can apply for a CL increase. It did state that no credit report was pulled and they would send a letter to me confirming this.

    tommyy,

If the popup screen asked for income, it means you don't qualify for limit increase without hard inquiry. They usually denied the limit increase with hard inquiry. You can to limit increase without hard inquiry every three to four months.

I have had my Platinum Select since 98. In 2000, I was requesting a balance transfer and complained that I didn't have enough credit limit at the 10k-12k (I dont remember exactly what my credit line was) I was at to make the balance transfer worth my while (which was BS). They about doubled my credit limit at that time. After that time, I have checked the web site and it has never gave me a preapproved credit increase and I have never tried for an increase.

Make big payments, and try again in a month or two. I got my first increase at 4 months.

Breeze is right; you need to make big payments. I was turned down for a limit incease on one of my 3 Citibank cards, and one of the specific reasons was low payments on that card ("recent low paybal"). I have never paid over the minimum on that card.

However, despite my lack of paybal, I was able to get a new Citi AAdvantage card less than a month later. :)

    Richguy,

I paid in full monthly and the payment debit from my checking account by the due. I never carry obalances over next month. That's probably they give me increase evry 3 to 4 months.
