I just got a call from my apartment office, stating that I got a UPS letter from Providian today that I need to pick up.... I PFB'd them awhile ago about Increase and unsecuring my measly 49 dollars, but they said no go, that they get reviewed automatically, blah blah. I wonder what this could be? and why is it being sent UPS? weird. Any ideas??

My guess is its the paper work for unsecuring your account or your $49.00 security depoist back in singles.

Whatever it is, looks like a proof of signature is needed.

Like George says- Go Get It.
Like Mirage says- Keep Us Posted.

    Best regards,
    Mirage

I hope Chase bought your account. The odds are they have not.

I discovered talking to a rep not long ago that Chase bought Platinum accounts; some Classics were included.

But not only are those two account types in the minority of all Providian accounts, they are long standing card holders with higher than average FICO scores.

i got a ups from them a few weeks ago after a PFB letter. inside was a letter from some gal and it said "i hope all your questions were answered if not please call XXX bla bla". so my question had not been answered and i called, the # was the same old automated customer service #. my ups was sent NEXT DAY and i thought what a bunch of morons!

Providian's Executive Offices seem to mail things by UPS or Fed Ex. I wrote them on PFB asking for a letter that my account was closed at my request and they send the confirmation letter by Fed Ex. It wasn't a form letter, either.

Maybe they are so lawsuit weary that they take extra precautions to do things by the book now.

Every time I have sent them a PFB letter they always respond this way, either sorry cant do it or you got what you asked for.

I received two of these UPS letters. Both times, I went thru PFB to request line increases, etc. (when they stopped giving them regularly). It was a letter (on their letterhead), but I still didn't get what I was asking for... They can kiss my behind!

Well, I had asked for a CL and my 49 dollars... they lowered my APR to 16.99 instead... They say I have three or more inquiries in the past 6 months and recently delinquent... I was not recently delinquent, but probably talking about a double added collection account. This is actually more then I expected... a personal letter, and the APR decrease.... so not tooo bad Providian! You may earn my business yet.

WTG, radiohead. Congrats!! I'm surprised that they lowered your rate considering they have been raising many others. Providian has been a good tool for establishing & re-establishing credit. Not worth much after you have reached your goals. Maybe with the new CEO, they will do more in the future to retain loyal and valuable customers. Enjoy your rate decrease!! :)

Thanks radiohead. I appreciate the info. I have a friend that has one of their secured cards put $250 up for CL, and now they won't address the $250 when talking about the chargeoff. She said take the $188 that you say I owe and send me a check for $62. They are crazy. charlie
