Providian JUST DOES NOT GET IT!!!!!

I continue to get the same stupid offer,

for their stupid "smart card", 0 % intro,

    THEN 23.99%, CL to 3K.<HELLO MARKETING>

This despite the fact that I have 10+ Super Prime

Cards, all with great terms & my credit is perfect

    w/scores in 700's.

They deserve to go out of business.

I too got a providian clear visa in Oct 2001 $1000 limit, no annual fee, and a 25 day grace period. My credit terms are not too bad but the A.P.R. is 23.9 so I only revolve a $10 balance each month so the interest is not going to hurt me. I have a Get Smart visa opened in July 2000 with a $3250 credit line and 16.9 A.P.R. but with a $59 annual fee and no grace period. My get smart (Aria) started at 23.9 A.P.R. after one year I called retention and mentioned to them that I have a Cap One at 15.9% and the guy said he could offer me 16.9% so I keeped the account open. I don't think they will be lowering the interest rate anymore because they are in trouble.

    EAGLE,

They gave me pre-approval offers for Secured Card when they used to be called "First Deposit National Bank." They approved me a secured card and I deposit $500. The secured account didn't have any grace period. As soon as I used, I sent in the payment to pay off the bill. So they didn't make any interest. They accused me my check wasn't any good. I told them it was money order. They blocked my account and they still charge annual
fee. They forced me to close the account. Later they bought out by Providian. They deserve out of business.
P.S. They checked my credit and they knew I had numerous charge-off accounts. They forced me to close the account. No more Providan for me. Even they mailed me a pre-approval application and I threw into paper shredder. They're not better than Cross Country Bank.

The only action I have ever taken is disputing the $19.95 increase fees.
