Who is familiar with AmeriCredit auto financing? Please give me good and bad experiences. http://www.americredit.com/
My loan is through AmeriCredit. They haven't been bad to deal with at all. My rate is a bit high (13.5%) but it was better than the first couple of lenders the auto dealer found who would finance me when my credit was a disaster. I had a few months when I was late paying and one time I went 30 days. After 8 or 9 months of on-time payments when I wrote to them via planetfeedback they agreed to remove the 30 day late from my reports. They have online account information but not online payments. They always post my payment quickly. They do freak out and call you right away (and every day) when you're late, but with their loan portfolio they have every right to do so. I think the lowest rate they offer anyone is 8.95%. They will loan anywhere from $7.500 to $37,000 and offer terms from 24 to 72 months. I'd finance with them again if I had to because of my credit situation.
I've had a car loan through AmeriCredit since July '01. I haven't had any proplems with them at all. Actually, I've been very pleased with the company, but then I have never been late before. April
When I was with them and was 1 day late, they would call and harrass me untill the check was in their grubby little hands. They didn't understand that the US mail does not move at the speed of sound. They were rude and obnoxious, and I would NEVER do business with them if they were the last resort! Just my two cents. Anna
I'll second that! They are fine as long as you send your payment 2 weeks before the due date. I had sent a payment on the due date and they called me 3 days in a row. I asked why they kept calling when I already told them 3 times that it had already been sent. Her reply was "we'll keep calling every day until we get out payment". Even when I'm not late they are very rude. Tbird
I've loved dealing with Americredit...I think the people that have had problems with them have maybe been dealing with a couple of the bad apples. Here's a quick story... I financed my car through them last June. My first statement arrived in the mail on June 30th, with the balance due on July 1st. I flipped out...figured "here we go, another company out to harrass me over a problem THEY created." I called them...really pissed off...but the lady on the other end was MORE than nice, and more than happy to push my due date to the 16th of every month. No problems, they've answered all of my questions over the past few months, and every CSR has been pleasant and non-confrontational...even when I've called them on the 14th of the month a couple times and said "the check just went out today...sorry". The only problem I have with them is that they offer no option to refinance. I'll probably pay them for another year at the current interest rate (it's HIGH, trust me) then take out a loan from my bank to pay it off at a lower one. Good luck
I'll THIRD that! I've switched over about 98% of my bill payments to my bank's online bill payment service. Only in certain rare circumstances (like where there's only 1 day left) will I allow a merchant or creditor to initiate a payment (check-by-phone etc) because of some prior horrible problems. So when my payment last month wound up being 6 days late (mailing problem at the bank), they were on the phone on the 2nd day. Each time I had to explain to the phone rep that the payment was on the way and if they wanted to know more they could call my bank. I even gave them th confirmation/reference number for that specific payment. Each time the rep said my account would be notated and each time the new rep who called hadn't bothered to read the notes! One rep even mention late fees and I explained to her it wasn't my problem because my bank woud work it out at a management level above her. she then proceeded to tell me that online banking isn't that great and that I should do a check by phone instead. "All the online banking does is print a check which you could do yourself and mail it to us." she said. (The only direct electronic payments they take is via Western Union Quick Collect--which you can now do online: http://www.westernunion.com/ ) My bank did work out the late fees BTW, they got AmeriCredit to drop them altogether. My only other problem with them happened back in June or July '01. I sent a payment to the main processing center in Arlington, TX via FedEx. Somebody signed for it the day before the payment was due. They called me the following week asking me for money. When I explained that they were paid and, in fact, the check had cleared my bank, the rep was "in disbelief" that such an error could be made. I got calls on and off over the next week or so and each time I told the rep to read the notes on my account and stop pestering me until I got the copy of the check. I sent the check copy, a copy of the FedEx airbill and a delivery confirmation printout to the main offices (thanks to PFB for the contact info). I got a letter and TWO phone calls from senior managers apologizing for all the confusion, the phone calls and, of course, refund of any late fees and they made sure no negative reporting was done! The have improved their online access so that now you can see *when* your payment posts (but if you send in more than one, you only see the last one). One nifty feature is for the times when you do need to use Western Union. A link in your account info page generates a sheet with all the WU info you need, account number, code city etc. It also shows the closest 5 WU locations to you home. Handy for me when I moved and didn't know anything about this area.
We had a loan through them for several months until we were able to refinance with the credit union. We were very pleased with them, and would use them again if our credit went south. Never had a problem, liked being able to check the account online. BTW, when we got the loan with them, everyone else had turned us down, so I am grateful to them for taking a chance on us
We've had a loan for about 2 years with Americredit. Never had any problems with them. I've only been late once and a gentleman rep called. He was very polite. I dealt with Credit Acceptance Corporation and they are the most unprofessional people in customer service. I think they hire anyone off the street, I swear. I had nothing but terrible service with them, harrassing calls to my place of employment, threats being made to take my car away......so compared to them, Amercredit is great. My interest rate is up there but they are the only ones that would take our crappy credit. Hope this helps.
Fiancee has a loan with them and in the state of MD there is a 15 day grace period before lc's are accessed..She has had loan since July 01 and due date is on the 10th..She sends the payments on the 20th due to her being paid on the 15th and we have never been called once ...........
