Congratulations! You said your mortgage score was 601...did you get a home loan? If so, did you have to jump through hoops? Keep up the great work!

I'm trying to get a home loan now I have a appointment on Friday to fill out the paperwork. We'll see. He did tell me I have to take care of two outstanding bills ($1350 - I broke a lease 4 years ago and two minor collections - $200) before we close. Luckily, I've paid everything else off. They have a program here in Virginia that helps with the downpayment. It looks good so far. Wish me luck

I've had not gotten approved just yet. i'm going to find out on friday what I need to do to get approved all the paperwork etc. I went through Lexington Law firm for about 1 year in addition to going through another debt settlement company that worked with my creditors and settled most of my past due credit accounts and collections and then I started working on the remaining ones myself starting in November. So i've come a long way. and I'm still working on getting the paid collections and the last two unpaid collections off of my credit report. See:

I've been disputing things off of my credit report for 4 months now. I started with Lexington Law Firm last January and they successfully got about
    5 off of Transunion
    4 off of Equifax
    3 off of Experian.
I've paid and settled on several old accounts which of course most of them are off because I've disputed them off. I paid Providian, Orchard and several other collections accounts off. I've disputed off all of them except for lovely Asset Acceptance (who has reaged my account and i'm currently fighting). I have been able to get another Orchard card.
(this is what is on my report currently.)
    Experian
5 unpaid collections (totalling $3000 (they are about 4 years old now)
    5 paid collections
5 new (positive) credit accounts (FNB,FNCC (both 1 year old) ,
CCB, Capitol 1, Orchard Bank (all three two months old)).
    Equifax
4 unpaid collection accounts (which are the same ones as on Experian except 1)
    5 unpaid medical collections
    1 paid collection
    5 postive accounts
    Transunion
    2 unpaid collections accounts
    3 paid collections
    5 positive accounts.

Yours looks just about like mine! I've also got about 5 unpaid and 5 paid collections! Except I am a little slower getting new accounts... workin on it though!!

By the way, what did you think of Lexington? I am needing to sign up with a service while I focus my attentions elsewhere!

Lexington was pretty good for the first 7 months but got kinda lax during the last 5 months. When I cancelled the service, I sent them an email to let them know why i cancelled and they did make an effort to keep me as a customer. I'm going to try some of the ways they suggested on the board and see where that gets me and if that does not work to my satisfaction I'm going back to Lexington.

The lender told me in Virginia that have a program that helps homebuyers with 3% of the down payment but I'm not sure if there are any limits. but when I find out I'll let you know.
