Here's one that's really strange. I got a piece of spam mail titled "REPAIR YOUR CREDIT!" -- lol -- so I clicked the link and ended up at WEBCREDITGUIDE.COM. When you get there you see a relatively attractive site that asks for a one-time $39.95 fee, but it doesn't say what that fee is for. Evidently you then get to order your credit reports (for additional fees from the CRAs directly, lol), and then you get some instructions regarding how to dispute online. Huh? $39.95 for a lesson in acquiring your credit reports and disputing online? Lordy, lordy, lordy, lordy, lordy. (Do I hear another "Lordy" from anybody out there!?) I did a lookup on the domain name and found that it had been registered "15-Feb-02" -- just seven days ago. The registrant's name is listed as "Johnson Phan." Johnson Phan? Ok, could be a real name. Anyway, for a site that pretends to have been online for a long time (check out all those testimonials, lol), seven short days doesn't exactly constitute a track record. I wonder how many people are ponying up the $39.95 for close to zero information? Doc
Hahahahaha... They say they are the only one who can get inquiries off. I, personally, have gotten LITERALLY dozens of bot Experian and TU. Who are these guys kidding?
Helpful tidbit from their website's FAQ: What reason can I use to dispute items? The credit bureaus will give you choices as to which reason to use. Pick the one that best represents your situation. Remember, unless you pick a reason and enter it, the investigation will not go forward on that item. So that's what I was doing wrong all this time! Where do I sign up? wajaba
What's even better is this from their front page in TESTIMONIALS: "his guide is totally worth it. " - Johnson P., Austin, TX
Oh, cute. The registar of the website recommends his own advice. The sad thing is that there are people out there who don't know any better and think they're getting something out of this. Dani
Hey Psych....SUPER SCAM - LOOK... THXs for this scam alert. GET this: go back, look on the right margin about the "testimonial" where the person had 12 negatives removed, etc.... the person doing the testimonial is one Johnson P! HMMMMM - Johnson Phan of Austin Texas! Apparently this scamsite somehow ties back to a mortgage company in Texas. This is a SCAM 100% ! grrrrrrr- dogman
Downright LIES - Geez..... I went back and looked at this guy Johnson Phan's website. After reading his own testamonial, then the others, I was sick. BUT then I saw that over 19,000 customers had been helped since 1997. Hmmm - a quick email to consumeraffairs.com seems appropriate...... aarrff - dogman
