Re: Approved for BMW card CardKid, 2001 model year with no NAV system. It is a fantastic car/truck with below average cargo space. KK
Re: Approved for BMW card We're DINKs w/ over $100K also and drive nice cars, but I just can't bring myself to pay that kind of $$ for a car. We don't go to George's extremes though
Re: Approved for BMW card LOL...we're with you Rina! We are over $100K combined as well, and I've been looking at Kias...lmbo. As my daddy always told me..."live beneath your means and you will never have to worry". Wish I had listened to him sooner. L
Re: Approved for BMW card live beneath your means and you will never have to worry ^^ Tell that to the people in a kia-deathtrap after getting in an accident. German cars, albeit expensive, and flashy (some) are supremely safe. When my girls are riding in my all-wheel-drive car, i have some piece of mind that alot of my hard earner money went into safety.. i kinda like "Live a little above your means, it motivates your ass to improve upon your means all the time.."
Re: Approved for BMW card Sam, I wouldn't trade safety for savings, either; I purchased a 96 Civic in 97, never any problems, I just do the regular maintenance. I've got a thing for Audis (a8, quattro), Volvos & even America's favorite, Camry. BUT...the mileage & price of my Civic beats them all. The only time we splurge on fancy vehicles is for vacations. Maybe one day I'll cave in & get an Audi, though
Re: Approved for BMW card I drive a 95 chevy, I think a person should use money credit to start Company or school. Fast cool cars, big screen tv are nice and may come later wilth out a big bill. If you Co making money or great paying job. I have a film Production I started with CC and other jobs. So I want the BMW card but not the car. """NOT YET""""
Re: Approved for BMW card I had no idea Kias weren't safe! I also would not trade safety. Didn't the Kia Sedonya just win won of those car of the year awards? I've heard the RUVs have had problems, but had only heard good things about the sedans. Glad you brought this up...I will definately do some research. I have precious cargo on board with me and won't take chances. Maybe Volvo is the way to go. L
Re: Approved for BMW card whyspers, Kias aren't worth it in my opinion. Just look up the depreciation on a 1 year old Kia, and you'll run the other way. The Honda CRX is a mini-SUV you may want to consider. Or the Volvo...you'd probably still have it after your kids are grown and gone
Re: Approved for BMW card Rina, I knew they depreciated a LOT as soon as you drove it off the lot, but to my way of thinking...that didn't matter if you planned to drive it for 6 or 7 years. They had the five year bumper to bumper warranty with roadside assistance, plus the 10 year, 100,000 mile powertrain warranty with a base sticker price of something like $8500. I test drove one and it ran great. I also looked at some used cars and they started at around the $10K mark...I just can't see paying that for used. My thrifty soul just has trouble with paying $22K - $25K for a car I could have bought for $12K back in 89. (Thunderbird...lol...which I would LOVE to own). Cars are just so expensive...a major purchase and since I don't spend a lot of time in mine I don't want to pay a lot. I'm really a tightwad at heart. Then again...if when we get rid of college tuition in two years...maybe I won't be such a tightwad...lol. Seriously, though...think about it..you pay $389 for a car payment and another $300 or so for full coverage...that's almost $700 a month to drive an average $20K car or so. I dunno...I think I'm going to wait a while. L
Re: Approved for BMW card When I purchased our BMW, I offered â??average" Black book. NADA or Kelly Blue Book would have allowed the dealer to make a big profit. We settled between â??averageâ? and â??cleanâ? book. I saved about $6,000 in front end gross (what the sales person would have made his commission on). My financing was arranged through the credit union at 5.35%. So, the dealership didnâ??t make anything on the back end (financing end). The balance of 10k was financed for 36 months at $301.28. The insurance was $868 per year through Geico (w/multi-car discount and paid in full - never finance your insurance coverage on an auto). We sold a Lexus ES 300 on EBay and used the proceeds as our down payment. Thatâ??s why we only financed 10k. The Lexus held its value well. I have nothing against Kia or any other auto manufacturer. We just have a preference for vehicles that perform well in crash tests, handle well on country roads (Georgia), hold their value, and are comfortable. Thereâ??s nothing wrong with eye appeal either. Re: Approved for BMW card Another plus for using BMW financing for their leases and purchases. I have been 30 day lates twice and everytime it shows up on my credit report, I call them up and they take it off. They are so nice to deal with. My lease is up this month and guess what? I am renewing with them.
Re: Approved for BMW card KK, I looked at the 2002 yesterday (Saturday) in Augusta, GA. I went to the same dealership that I pissed off when we purchased our sedan. They remembered me (LOL). There were 3 types: The 3.0i, 4.4i and the 4.6is. Because I'm not ready to buy (and I told them that), they let me test drive a 3.0i without the pressure. To say the least, I was really impressed with how it handled. It was all-wheel drive and very comfortable. It had the power roof, simulated wood grain, and heated seats. Because they're not in the Black Book yet, I'll need to research further to prepare a fair offer when I get serious. CardKid
