Do I got a case?

Quick question. I have a tax lien that I disputed through equifax, they responded "Equifax has verified that this item belongs to you".

I immediately sent off a validation letter to the creditor and address that equifax had listed, which happened to be my county's State Recorders Office. Their response: "The County Recorders Office does not create the line notations nor do we submit information to credit reporting agencies. We are not responsible nor do we check the validity of any document."

If this is true, how did equifax verify?

    What should I do?
    Thanks in advance.

They might have someone go look to verify...or maybe your clerk's office is online. I can look up that information for my county online by going to their website and searching their database. Its all a matter of public record.

This may be true but...they can't validate any of these records as being true or accurate. Their letter states that they do not validate, just record. So, how can Equifax show them as the reporting creditor when they can't validate these records?

Uhhh..if someone goes to the courthouse and looks it up, I think that would be considered validation. Its hard to argue with public records because generally it is pretty easy to go upstairs to the clerk's office and have them pull the whole case. I think you are barking up the wrong tree here, personally...but good luck to you with it.

Anyone else have an opinion? BTW Transunion has deleted with no problems.

Most courthouse keep track of who pulls what records, if someone physically goes to the courthouse. You can go to the courthouse and request a list of people who have pulled your file.
