I currently have the following: Cap One Gold Mastercard with a whopping $400 cl Cap One KMart Gold Mastercard with another $400 cl Cap One Visa with a decent $2,000 cl Cap One Platinum with a roaring $325 cl. Is it possible to have ALL of those combined into one card or do a BT to my Platinum and close the other accounts? I wouldn't mind keeping the Visa and would like to keep the Platinum, but would like to get rid of the Gold MC (had it for a couple of years) and at least relegate the KMart card to the sock drawer. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! L
Whyspers, with all those Capital One accounts you have many choices available to you. First of all, you cannot combine the kmart card. The kmart card is an affinity card so you will just have to keep it or close it, your choice. The other three accounts, gold mc, visa, platinum all can be combined into one. It would make sense to keep your oldest one (gold mc) open. If you do this you will end up closing your platinum card and your visa card. If I was in your situation I would let all the accounts grow as far as increases are concerned. You can call the executive dept. every 6 months and have them increased and once your combined limits on the 3 cards reach 5k have the executive dept. combine all cards into one platinum card. In the mean time you can keep your current platinum card and maybe in about one year of getting increases on the 3 accounts thru the exec dept. you can do the 5k platinum combination. If you go this route you will end up with a 5k platinum card in the shortest amount of time.
