I don't know if this has been discussed before but I'm wondering if this is true. I think the CRA's are using creditor's monthly tape updates as verification when the consumer is disputing. I noticed that my easiest deletions were those where the creditor has not reported anything on the account for an extended period of time. For the creditors who update monthly (probably by computer tape) "verified" seems to happen. For example, one of my monthly updaters agreed to delete . The next day TU closed the dispute early as "verified" . Then a few days later the account was deleted. Has anyone seen a pattern? If this is true, maybe the timing of a dispute vs. when an account is updated is the key. Just a thought.

OMG, yes! This makes sense and would explain why the company is saying that the CRA never contacted them. I have that situation going on with two diffent companies right now and both say that they were never contacted for verification.

Interesting isn't it! We already know that unless the CRA has "hard delete" the monthly tape can cause a deletion to come back. I'm thinking the tape is also used for verification. I find it unbelievable that a creditor who says I owe all this money keeps verifying but doesn't contact me. That's because they don't know I'm disputing. The account was not annotated as "consumer dispute".
