most boring card i've ever seen.

    $2500 limit

doesn't say platinum plus visa on it though!!

when i registered it online it says "platinum plus"

When I called to activate the lady said enjoy your "platinum plus visa".

(last time i checked platinum mbna required a 5000 limit).

    strange.

You Got a downsell from the Platinum To a Standard.. Platinum Plus starts at 5k.. MBNA will downsell if they think that a lower line of credit is sufficient..

What are you saying here? That MBNA is telling him he has a Plat. Plus but he really doesn't?

PLATINUM can now go as low as $500 with some cards...

Back in the OLDEN' days SILVER was up to $4,999 and GOLD was $5,000+

PLATINUM SHOULD REALLY NEVER BE LESS THAN $10,000!!!

Platinum Card doesn't worth anything and mean anything.

    leo728,

My Quantum Rewards Select Card looks exactly the same as the regular Quantum Card. Even the statement looks exactly the same as my regular Quantum card except they showed you the points earned this period.

    Sam,

Bank of America did a similar thing to me when they issued me a Gold card for $3500, even though the online application webpage stated that the Gold BofA card had a minimum of $5000.

So, I printed out the page, called the BofA corporate office and sent a PFB letter in order to have them raise my limit to the minimum $5000. It worked. A VP of credit cards called me and raised the limit that day. She was the nicest CC rep I've ever spoken with.

Since MBNA's customer service and definitely executive customer service is unparalled (in my opinion), I recommend trying the same thing with them. Write them via PFB with a link to the page stating that a Platinum Plus is $5000+, offer to fax your account summary page showing that it is a Platinum Plus, and ask them to raise your limit to at least $5000 in keeping with their terms.

When they call back, tell them that you really need more to work with anyway and won't they just raise it to $10000 to match your other CC accounts?

If they agree, you know what to do from there. :)

Yes, That is what I am saying.. If the Cardholder reads any of her terms , Benefits, ect when they receive the Card, It will not have any of the Platinum Benefits, MBNA has a different Toll Free Number for its Platinum Plus Customers.. and when The Card holder called , by habit the Representitive probaly said thank for calling Platinum Plus..

Ok. However, if I remember correctly, Sam didn't apply for a card, he got an Apple LOC and converted it to plastic, so they didn't set the amount for the card, it was the same as the origianl LOC.

My MBNA Amtrak Plat Plus already has printed "Platinum Plus" on the cover of the card.

I still think this is a real Platinum Plus. If customer service calls it that - and his online account summary calls it that - that is what it is. I'd get a credit line to match the terms.

The way to verify if it is a Platinum plus is to check the first 4 numbers on your card.. For it to be platinum with MBNA.. the first 4 # on VISA are 4264
and on 5490 for Mastercard.. If they are not one of these.. it is not a platinum plus card..
