I sent an estoppel letter to Capital One on the 4th of March demanding that they remove an acct off my credit report after receiving no response to the first validation letter. I received a letter in the mail today asking me to provide the following:
    1. 3 notarized signatures
    2. Photocopy of drivers license/picture id
    3. Photocopy of social security card

Attached is an affdavit of fraud application. I did not dispute this acct as a fraud, just asking them to prove that its mine. Am I obligated to fill this form out? Seems they would just send me the proof if they've truly got it and be done with it. Help!

YOU HAVE TO DO THEIR WORK FOR THEM???

    I don't think so........

Tell them AGAIN to PROVE the account is yours!!!

That's what I thought but just wanted to get other opinions. Thanks, George.

So, LizardKing, which items can I or should I ignore? I don't understand why they need copies of my drivers license and social security card? For the signatures perhaps?

I resurrected this to today's board because I just got the same letter from Capital One ...

Do you really think its a good idea to fill this form out, at least partially? What would you NOT provide?

Any thoughts on how to handle this would be appriciated!

    thanking in advance!

    peace,
    delilah
