Hello, This site was recommended by a friend who finally has a job and used your advice to negotiate with Citibank. There are three bad marks on my account.
    1. I have a macy's for $500 that will come of my report in 1/03.
    2. MBNA for 2,900 that was sent to collection law firm about 6 months ago. I paid $300 to the collection agency but this has not help my scores. The lawyer will accept $2000 and settle or clear all marks from my credit history if I pay him the full amount.
    3. Citibank for $800, their willing to settle at 75% but I was told that this will not increase my score.

I can take out a loan for $3000 -4000. Who should I pay first in order to increase my score soon so that I may get an apartment. The rental office needs atleast a 650. Please help.

By all means, pay MBNA. Before you do, make sure you get them to put in writing that they will delete all entries once paid. Leave Macys alone.

I would say which one is going to Delete the entire neg. tradeline would be the first to go. If not... then paying it to zero really wouldn't help your score I don't think. Also.. they are older and I'm not sure if that will help you much.

I know I'm not much help. Maybe someone else can help out.

I can't guarantee that following my suggestion will get you to 650 but it should get you real close. I'm curious as to why such low scores if they are the only 3 derogs. Do you have any positives?

Who is reporting the entry on your reports? Is it listed under MBNA or a collection agency/lawfirm?

it says on the TU report

first line: Colection America Placed for collection on 2/2002.

fourth line: MBNA America Account closed by consumer...status as of 6/01: charged off as bad debt?

Wow, I've got a 4 year old BK and a few charge-off student loans and my score is 623. Real FICO, I just found out, is 632.

    Go figure.
