I applied over the internet for a secured card and a week later got an approval letter. Now that I sent my money about two weeks ago they now say thet do not do secured credit cards anymore and I do not qualify for a unsecured card. Can anyone suggest a good secured card in order to rebuild my credit. Thanks in advance..
Capital One is a good place for a secured account. Washington Mutual has a secured visa that maybe unsecured after 18 months and has decent terms. You can find them at wamu.com under credit cards. If I am not mistaken their cards are issued by The Associates which is now Citigroup. Orchard bank has secured cards also. Another secured card is Umbrella bank visa which has a fixed 16.9 a.p.r. and $35 annual fee but the minimum deposit is $500 Since FCNB is up for sale maybe that is why you cannot get a card. I just checked their website and noticed you cannot apply for their card. I have a FCNB mastercard that I opened in November of 2001. I wonder who is going to buy FCNB?????
Did they pull your credit history? If so, I would imagine you could dispute their inquiry. Just a thought. I know those 2 points add up. Deputy
