Hi - unfortunately, I have never read or personally found Providian to be too cooperative without a few tries .

Keep trying different reps = be nice = you may get help.
    regards - dogman

I wrote them a nesty letter via PFB. They said that they would not remove the late pay notation on my credit report, but they did refund $75 in fees, etc. Next, after recieving their letter I disputed them again and they came right off within 3 days of disputing. It not reads paid/never late.

Providian can be a real big pain in the a#$. I had a charge off listed that was not mine. It belonged to someone in my city with my exact name. It took 6 disputes before it finally was removed. And then, it was only removed because I told the cra it was identity fraud and they were looking at a lawsuit if I had to go another round with this. They finally told Providian they needed proof, which they didn't have so it was deleted. I sent Providian a total of 7 certified letters or overnight Fedex letters demanding proof of this under the FCBA - never got a single reply. Providian sucks.

I have personally found that to be nice to the reps without an attitude or axe to grind attitude really works well. First, reps will respond to you as a human being with a problem they can help solves. Second, the reps, if they can't help, will tell you why they cannot help you. This is a lot better than just a nasty "sorry." It will point you in the right direction for calling again and zeroing in on the problem.

I must completely disagree. Although the people i spoke to at Providian (after sending 7 letters and not getting a response, I had to call), were not unpleasant, they just didn't know anything, or so they claimed. They promised me at least 5 times, that they would call me back the next day after further investigation, but they never called back. Great customer service.

I guess I've heard rumblings that Providian is in some sort of trouble. I have disputed lates with all 3 bureaus and Providian must not be bothering to respond. Perhpas they dont have the manpower or the will.

So you might just try a simple 'never late' dispute.

Full disclosure - these did refer to an account that had been charged off - but as a result 2 out of the 3 CRA's show the account as closed but also as always paid as agreed. Of course the 3rd CRA decided to just delete the whole account rather than delete lates but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

    Good luck

okay, I just sent providian a letter via pfb regarding a late fee and someone called me back today. I will get the name and number and post them if possible.

i also disputed my providian account as never late and it was deleted from experian and tu.
