I just got this card about a month or so ago and it seems like I should have received the first statement by now. Am I being paranoid here? I'm just so worried that after all of this work I'll get socked with a 30 day late without ever having received my first statement.

When I get home tonight, I will sign up for online access, but am wondering if anyone has ever had trouble in receiving their statements? Are they pretty good about posting payments or are they like other companies who shall remain nameless who like to use every tactic they can in order to cause late pays?

    Thanks,
    L

One of the first things you need to do is realize is that companies like these love to send statements out late to reap fees off you.

    My recommendation:
    1. Don't do business with any credit card company that doesn't do online statement/payments.

    2. Disregard all of your paper statements. Pay Twice a month online. You'll never ever be late, and will pay down your bill much faster.

    3. Make it a habit to check each credit card online, every day. Check for fraud, and new online billings.

Has worked for me for 2 years, never late, always pay the instant the online statement appears.

I haven't seen an online payment area.. am I missing it?

I agree that you should pay twice a month because it takes them forever to apply a payment to the account and you want to be ahead of them before they charge you late fees.

Nah, they don't have an online payment option. The way things are going with them, I'm sure they probably won't invest the time or money to develop one. They do take checks over the phone, but it'll cost $8.

And you would think for $8 that they would apply the payment quicker than mailing it in..... but it sure doesn't seem like they do.

I have had my FCNB mastercard since november of 2001 and my payments have posted within 3 to 5 days. If I am not mistaken they have a very long billing cycle maybe 30 days. This may be the reason you have not received your statement yet. But anyways you should call them. I have not had a single problem with FCNB to this date. I am waiting to see who buys this credit card bank. Hopefully a bank that does online payments as I hate to mail my payments.

    whyspers,

You shouldn't begin worrying...yet. :) Most credit card companies assign you a statement date (usually the day they approved your application). The card usually arrives in your mailbox 7-10 days later. So by the time you receive it you are on the second billing statement. You should receive the statement within the next week or two. For your own reassurance just give their customer service department a call and they can verify the billing statement date, as well as, your due date.

    Hope this helps.

I have found in my experience with FCNB that they are too damn slow with posting payments. I have other secure card Sterling and they post quickly.

On the other hand, if you pay FCNB by phone it takes 3-5 days to post. If you pay by wire(MoneyGram or Western Union) it takes 72 hrs which is 3 days, which is absurd!!!! Any other normal credit card posts it the day it is recieved when wired.

When mailing my payment I tried to mail them off as soon as I get them for FCNB. I also seemed to get my statement late for this company sometimes, leaving only a week and a half to mail it in.
I hate this. I wish they did have an online payment system, it would make my life much easier but currently they do not.

Whew...thanks for the reassurances. I generally send payments out the day they arrive if by mail. I saw where you could log into your account online, and just assumed you could bill pay there as well.

I bank online and send payments to FCNB electronically. They usually post in 2-3 business days. I have had them for almost a year and they have been good although I would love to see a CL increase. I'm also hoping that at the year mark it becomes unsecured as I have charged about $5,000 on it and paid on time occassionally not paying the full balance to earn them a finanace charge or two.

I just tryed to get FCNB to drop the annual fee and they would not. They said you have to wait 2 yrs and you have to have all on time payments. I told them to close the account.....:-(
Oh well, guess i will have to find a replacement......

How do you send Payments electronically? Their website doesn't accept payments.

    Re: ONLINE PAYMENTS

FCNB is way behind the times. I have had 2 payments posted as pending authorizations the ****ed my credit limit and showed me over the limit. They have lost payments, screwed up check by phone payments, reduced my cash line, and most recently, would not give me a lower apr because they stopped their program for that - right away two years of building my credit score so they could qualify me.

They are ****ed up, rinky-dink bullshiters. They deserve to go under!
