Providian to Sell $2.6 Bil in asset

    "The transaction, expected to close in May, includes about 1.7 million credit card accounts.

    Under the terms of the deal, Providian will continue to service the portfolio for up to 12 months. "

    Looks like those accounts could eventually become ASPIRE accounts with, of course, super high APRs

    If that happens to my accounts I will close them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I currently have a getsmart at 16.9 fixed and a providian visa at 23.9 percent. Aspire charges very high interest rates !!!!

    I have the same cards that you have but I will also close as soon as possible if they touch my interest rate..Getsmart 16.99 and Platinum 19.95

    1.9% for the first 3 monthly billing periods that your account is
    open ("Introductory Period")*. After that, 9.99% variable.

    That must be the reason I was DENIED twice for that card...THEY KNEW I WOULDN'T TAKE A JOKE RATE...

    Reason for denial is you qualified for 9.99 %
    Their rates are normally 16.99 % & 19.99 % or higher
