First: Go to the courthouse and ask to see the original court filing and satisfaction of judgement. What you are trying to find out is how much effort is required to obtain the information. If its a long time or the files are "off site" that is good since the actual verification process may be difficult or impossible. If the court can't provide you verification, its unlikely they can provide it to a CRA. Dispute the judgement with the credit bureau. Depending on what you found out at the courthouse, you will know the chances of having this removed. If it comes back verified, then you might want to consult Bill Bauer to determine if the judgement was filed properly and even though was satisfied may be invalid on its face.
