I called TU affiliate in Tampa. They have been bought out by TU and all disputes are to go to Philadelphia. So I checked my TU credit file and Asset Acceptance is gone. They also added some type of surname alert. I initiated an online dispute and told them to take it off. Of course, my score has not changed since the last time I pulled with Asset on there. Since Nov. 2001 it's gone up 2 pts. With about 5 lates deleted, 5 collections deleted and 3 additional closed accounts. TU sucks!
Don't worry Beta, I have the same problem. Since I started in January, I have had eight deletions on my TU report. I started with a 499 and now I have a 506. WoooHooooooo--I gained less than one point with each deletion!! There are only like 3 negatives left on my report. My theory is (besides the fact the TU's scoring system is whacked out): somewhere on your report, there is a magic account that is eating up your points. I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to it, but once that magic account is deleted, I think my score will skyrocket. Until that happens, my score will probably remain where it's at (low 5's). The only problem is: I have no clue which of the 3 this magic account is. It's kind of like a twisted version of "The Price is Right".
I have had the same problem. I can't figure out exactly how TU does their scoring (big suprise there), but it seems they have one item that will really keep your score low. I had ten deletions and my score only went from 495 to 513. Then I had one more deletion and my TU score went up to 585. I only have one more derog left on there that the OC has agreed to remove, so I would think it would take a huge jump at that point...at least 40-50 points. L
I'm confused too. I went on vacation and came back to find out that I had a 103 point increase. I know they disputed some old 30 day lates(1997-ish). Then there was a car loan that was paid off almost 2 years ago that they were still reporting with a balance. All of the stuff was really, really old. I'm not sure why it made that much of a difference. There is one thing that they did not correct so I'm going to send the letter from the creditor that states they will remove all negatives (a couple of 30 day lates and one 60 day late from 1997). Watch my score drop the minute they delete it. Oh well....I will get my house one of these days. Good luck trying to figure TU out...
Thanks Lizard, I guess I'll have to wait 7 years until my last late payment drops off. That's the 1st reason listed on my report - late payments. I only have 2 - 30 day lates! + That damn Burdines, it's really killing my score. I have been pretty successful with the nutcase letters but I haven't gotten all of them off. I'll guess I'll PFB Mr. Cooke and ask him to remove the 1 late payment that I have on there. But, that probably won't make a difference. TU sucks!
