    Here's a full load of hogwash from CreditExpert Credit Manager News
    the member newspaper:

    The FCRA doesn't require that these items be reported for xx number of years, it says they may be reported for xx number of years.

    So the FCRA isn't imposing a sentence, it is limiting the sentence that may be imposed.

    They go on to disparage credit repair organizations. I have this overwhelming urge to call them up and read them the FCRA start to finish, LOL.

    Talk about spin!!!

    OMG, breeze, they are publishing misleading and incorrect information related to the FCRA. Isn't there some duty for them to provide CORRECT information -- not necessarily under the FCRA but under some other consumer protection statute? It really seems unlawful for a corporation to "quote" federal law incorrectly in an obvious effort to further their commercial aims.

    You know something else I found interesting while reading over the FCRA? 15 U.S.C. §1681g(c), titled Disclosure to Consumers requires that

    "Every consumer reporting agency shall, upon request and subject to 15 U.S.C. §1681(h)(which is the proper identification clause) clearly and accurately disclose to the consumer:"

    ...blah, blah, blah...

    (c)(2) Specific items required to be included. The summary of rights required under paragraph (1) shall include:"

    ...blah, blah, blah...

    "(C) a list of all Federal agencies responsible for enforcing any provision of this title and the address and any appropriate phone number for each such agency, in a form that will assist the consumer in selection the appropriate agency;

    (D) a statement that the consumer may have additional rights under State law and that the consumer may wish to contact a State or local concumer protection agency or a State attorney general to learn of those rights;..."

    Now maybe I'm blind, but the ONLY cra I've seen do this is TransUnion. They always include the sheet with their credit reports, and it is also prominently displayed on their website each time you order a credit report.

    If no one claims those IQ points, I have some recommendations as to how they should be distributed ;)

    A whole lot of us have just gotten this newsletter - I think it would not take much effort to write to CE and cc the FTC, lets drag their a$$e$ over the coals just for the heck of it.

    Not that I truly believe it will change the spin in their propaganda, but WTH, we can try.

    here's the appropirate test from the FCRA
