We are going to pick up our Penske tomorrow, so I need to decide if I need the insurance. I have Progressive insurance and we paid with our Citi card. Do you think that one of them may offer the insurance?

Funny you should mention this, when I moved a couple of weeks ago, a few days prior to moving I got a letter from Citi saying I was automatically covered for rental insurance. I called Citi to find out the costs, they said no cost it's included. GREAT save me $20 for the rental.

The Ryder guy was a DICK!!!! I paid with Citi and said I don't want any extra coverage, it's covered by my card, he said he HAD to unless I had ins. with State Farm.

I would check with the ryder dealer and find out if you're required to buy their insurance.

I worked for Uhaul a while back and the question regarding insurance always came up. The best advice I have is to find out the weight of the rental truck you will be renting. Usually insurance companies will only cover cars/trucks up to a certain weight. It's better to take the time and find out thru your insurance company than to be sorry. Car rental coverage thru your credit card have restrictions as to which vehicles they cover for collision. Call them and find out.

I know that insurance on rentals is usually covered if you pay with a gold card or above. One of the perks of those cards. I always use my gold debit card and have had no problems but I rent from Budget. the others are too spendy. My Budget moving truck was covered on my card as well as the rental cars.
