BBB, the CA, and what to do

Recently I submitted a complaint to the BBB. Today I received a letter back from them from the CA. The CA is asking for my account number, because with the info. I provided the BBB (which in turn provided to the CA) did not include it. Just my name and address. So, my questions is:

Should I provide it to them (just the account number, nothing more)?

    Or

Should I send a letter back to the BBB (for the CA) that it's their responsibility to have the account number (couldn't they pull it up using my name?) and if they do not have it, they need to delete.

Of course, with the second scenario, I wonder if they might come back and say "well if you don't give us the account number, we won't know what to delete".

    Looking for suggestions :)

If you have the account number, I'd give it to them. Wouldn't give them anything else though (although I have from time to time...lol).

I did and with success, the collection agency deleted from the credit bureaus.

    Good Luck

Thank you whyspers, thank you janet...

    :)

I'll go ahead and give it to them. The fact that they were unable to identify me with my name and address leads me to believe (hopefully) they have zero on me anyway.
