You know it's sad when you start contacting your long distance company and they try selling you auto insurance. I called for lower rates (on everything today - phone, interest rates, etc.) This is what I got (of course, I didn't get any new rates).

AT&T - now trying to sell auto insurance

    Discover - credit protection (typical)

Verizon - Caller ID, call forwarding package

Amex - air flight insurance, baggage protection

Ugh! I can't call for a lousy balance update, without getting a sales pitch.

Anyone else noticing this new trend?

Yes, Dani...it comes to mind every time I call Capital One to activate a new card from them and I sit on the phone for 30 minutes listening to various sales pitches before they get around to activating the card...lol.

And you always have to pay attention as to not press the wrong button, otherwise you would just purchased cc protection for the 10 years.

    Best regards,

Chase and Discover are really becoming a pest. Every other day we get calls selling either credit protection or, get a "free" copy of your credit report.
