I found out who made the Inquiry on my Experian report.... I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Pissed! It was Asset Acceptance Corp! Those mutha*&^%$. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Ok i'm trying to calm down. These guys did this on purpose. They've been sending these fake funny letters trying to get me to pay an old account from 1989!!! it fell of my report in 1996!!!! It's 2002 it is 6yrs and 5 months since it's fallen off in 1996. In April i finally picked up the phone and had a funny shouting match with one of their reps, and in a nutshell told them they couldn't touch me. I looked at my bureau Today and a Inquiry is there, but i know i haven't applied for anything. Then i get my CE alert. So i look at my file and it's bright as day ASSET ACCEPTANCE CORP.... Reason was for Collection Purpose on 4/16/02 2 days after my conversation... I have every credit report from EQ back to 1994... I verified this acct chargeoff and etc.. and also to serve as my Exhibit A when i take these suckers to court... Ohhhhhh I'm Hot!!!!!! Don't know how to word my letter/Intent to Sue/straight to court letter... Damn I got to get them. They pulled a Hard on purpose on a %%$@ debt past SOL almost twice the years, and the sorry ass excuse is Inquiry for Collection Purpose..... Sorry for the long run on, but i'm just speechless. Creditnet family can you believe these AS_ HO_ES ?
I feel for you backspace. I'm dealing with these clowns myself. Get this, after they received a validation request from me (CRRR, of course), they place a collection account on my report and under "status" it says: unable to locate consumer. What kind of BS is that?...And they've failed to respond at all to my validation request (big surprise here). <sigh> Will they ever learn? After you receive a judgement against these yahoo's, tell them mindcrime is coming after them next.
I also have one..after disputing w/ CRA, now says " STATUS: NO STATUS YOUR COMMET: Account in dispute under FCBA verified & updat11-2001. ........WTF that suppose to mean? BTW.. ya heard of N,A,F.S Buffalo in connection w/ anyone ?
Yeah I can't wait to put this Masterpiece together. It will be the Rembrandt of all Lawsuits.. Will spend Sunday evening after my Mothers Day celebration looking up Lawsuit Post, and Website post, and steps on preparing, which obviously were posted here. This one is a no brainer win.. Trying to distinquish as many violations to get not just 1 $1,000 pop... Any direct links to content would be appreciated... These suckers spoiled my buzz last night.....
Asset Acceptance seems to be in the violation business. They recently sent me a "settlement" offer on a time-barred from 1991. The letters states that I would SAVE 35% by paying them and receive a PAID ACCT letter. Oh boy, how generous for an uncollectible, unreportable 11 year old bill! This was my FIRST LETTER from them and it didn't have the required mini-miranda notices. I sent them a CRRR letter informing them that the debt was time-barred and that they had already violated the FDCPA. If any inquiries appear on my CRA reports, I'll sue them immediately. I think it's ridiculous that these slimy companies profit by exploiting people who don't know the law. Greg
I feel for you! I dealt with this company. I used to post on them so often. Then they finally took the account off right before I sued them. Sent the intent to sue and copy of lawsuit. Please sue them. I didn't because I just wanted it off my report and I finally got what I wanted. But, I'm quite sure I could have gotten some $$$$. Asset really doesn't care about the law. They believe in making violations and they really think they are above the law. I really feel for you because there were many times they verified the account and had not provided validation. My blood pressure went up a few times because of this company. Burdines did the same thing. They pulled a hard in april. I was so mad! But thanks to Doc. it's in dispute and I am hoping it will be deleted.
You know if you sent them a validation request they couldn't proceed at all and everything they do would be a fdcpa violation after receiving the validation request... anyway, with what you have you've got them. Post your lawsuit and we'll all add our nonlawyer advice. go get them... if you want an atty I can refer one to you
I'm in line after mindcrime!!!! I just sent them the estoppel last week and got my green card back today. I've got both letters and verifications with the CRA's after I sent validation (which they of course haven't responded to). Already have my small claims form filled out and my intent to sue ready to go to them after the 15 days is up.

They said for collection purpose, but it's clear to harm me. Because i remember clear as a bell i told the Rep there's nothing you can do to me on this debt, which dropped off in 1996.
