does anyone know what CRA Kohl's uses for their Credit applications? and if so, any idea what score is needed for card with relatively low limit? <$500

this department store is relatively new to Texas. Great sales, additional 10% discount with store card 8 times a year, especially helpful with back to school purchases. carries many of same product lines as Penney's. I usually use my debit card, but would like the additional discounts and special value purchases for card holders. We buy about 80% of all clothing purchases for three household members at this store.

No data from TX, but to me it looks like they pull TU everywhere:

    KOHL'S TU GA
    KOHL'S TU IL
    KOHL'S TU MD
    KOHL'S TU MO
    KOHL'S TU NJ
    KOHL'S TU OH

guess I am also trying to confirm on whether or not Kohl's will even consider my application with a 13BK in '96...won't fall off until spring of '2003. don't want to waste my time and more importantly, an inquiry, for a lost cause.

I didn't realize that some of the companies had such black and white guidelines on BK's. should have learned more.]]

when I talked to Bank of America rep about a secured card, she said not to waste an inquiry because they WILL NOT EVEN CONSIDER YOU if you HAVE A BK ON THE REPORT. seems that after 12 months, it becomes an unsecured card and the BK won't wash for that .

guess I'll just have to wait until spring '2003 to pursue these.

    For INDIANA, Kohls pulls TU.

I think it's pretty clearly their primary CRA.

Hey IndyGreg, ADD your inquiry data to MillCBS and help the cause. If you have any other Creditor/CRA INQUIRY information please add those as well.

    Here is a convenient link:

I got a $500cl in store. I only tryed to get it because I thought they only pulled Trans Union. Well, they pulled Equifax (I'm in NC) and my score was 598. I can't beleive I got it. I had a few collections from 1998 that keep re-appearing. Sorry I can't help with the BK advice.

Maggie75, I don't remember. It was for my daughter and I was trying to get her a retail tradeline. I think it was in the 670-690 range. The GM helped us and he said that as long as you have a couple of positive tradelines you should get approved. My daughter had a bunch of inquiries and no derogs. The approval cane back at 300, but when she got her card it was 500. I don't know what the % rate is. She is very credit savvy. We charged 250 and wrote a check for it before we left. I think that the 1st purchase was 15% off then a coupon for another 10% off. On top of that everything we bought was 50% off. Nice store. I live in SA and we won't get one til fall.:p Charlie

I haven't shopped at Penney's since they opened the Kohl's about ten minutes from my house. Kohl's always has GREAT sales, and they carry most of the same line of clothing that Penney's carried. And since they are always in a free standing strip mall, I don't have to fight the crowds like you do if you are going to one of the major traditional malls.

However, as far as applying: My TU score is barely a 600, think I will wait until the BK falls off next spring, since they pull TU here in Dallas.

Not a big deal, I just wanted the card for the sale coupons and extra discounts that they give their card holders 6-8 times a year..

    thanks for your input
    beautiful day 35 and I20
