Have a friend that needs to find a bank that does not check Chex Systems and also does not run a credit report. Any web sites or On-Line banks come to mind. Thanks

Not sure of any bank or CU that does not run either a chex report or a credit report (usually it's one or the other), however here's a link to CU's across the country, just plug in your state. Sure there are. Search this board for Chex Systems and amongst the posts on disputing, and your rights under the FCRA you will find many posts of banks that don't use Chex. Click here for some links provided by Breeze -Peace, Dave
JustMe, Try http://www.passchecking.com/ it's all about finding a bank that doesn't use chex as well as cleaning that report up. Chex does fall under fdcpa and you can send a validation letter. Sassy
Sassy, I was poking around that site, however they require you to join to be able to get a list of non-chex banks, at a cost of $35.
mindcrime, I just noticed that!!!!!!!!!!!!! wow, that was just within the last week or so that they changed it, too bad. The link you posted refers to the same site. I'm looking for other links that don't refer to the same place, if nothing else, I've saved some really great info from there and I will post it so it will at least be available. oh no, Justme, Please don't pay, the link I posted used to be the chexsystembites.com page and it looks like whoever converted to a pay system did their homework as well, all old links seem to take you to the same place. The only valid link anymore appears to be too a yahoo groups on the same subject, you might want to try them here http://groups.yahoo.com/group/chexsys/messages I searched here, if you put in chex it brings up over a thousand posts so there's information here it's just scattered. What makes me mad is that the site was one of the only ones that maintained a list of banks that didn't use chexsystems, I guess they decided to capitalize on that instead of focusing on the problems anymore. From searching it looks like some here have found SunTrust to be a non-chex system checking entity...I have no personal knowledge of it, but it does appear that SunTrust appeared in several posts to that effect. -Peace, Dave

Gets worse too, I did a google search, most links if active take you to the same site! Then I found this, chex is now in kahoots with cccs, they charge you 50 bucks make you go to a six hour class and you get a certificate allowing you to open an account at a participating bank :-( http://www.cccsoc.org/pages/workshops/wshops_08.html a bigger grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. What worked for me and hubby is, I wasn't listed in chex systems but hubby was. We had a joint account and he was the primary on the account. If your friend knows which bank reported and who was the primary account holder, they could try the other person's name, if a couple, then work on getting the report cleaned up. You could call local credit unions and ask or take note of the little plastic signage they all have posted to see who they use, if anyone. Sassy
Here is the address for Sun Trust Bank: http://www.suntrust.com/index.asp They have ATM machines in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC. I would assume that this also where they have brick and mortar banks. Also, is it just me or have others noticed that the larger banks tend to charge more for checking accounts?
Larger banks give you better benefits when you keep much $$ in them Anyways, i believe suntrust pulls something else like telecheck because i got denied with a 660 score for a checking account. i've had stuff on my chex in the past 3 years, and i've gotten : netbank,justrightbank, and southtrust accounts. Wamu doesn't check chex, I think if you apply online most of the time they don't check CHEX but go by credit scoring.
