Does anyone know if by having three Cap 1 accounts combined into one if that hurts your score. How are the accounts that were combined into the single account marked on your credit report. I don't want three accounts stating "closed by credit grantor" just because they were combined into one account. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks for the help!!
I just did that exact thing...3 into one..on my reports it shows paid/closed $0 balance...in regards to score it depends on if it's maxed out...cap1 doesn't show limits so if the 3 together will appear maxed out even if you have available credit...if you pay down your balance...it'll help your score. or max out then pay down...anyway, it didn't hurt me..just make sure the oldest one stays open...
THat's what Mr. Cooke said he was going to do, leave the oldest open. I'll just charge it up and pay it down so the CL gets put on the CR. Thanks for your info.
ask for a line increase on each account.. then combine into the oldest and get better terms on that line. You can tease and say that you can call back in a few months or just do it all now and that way he won't have to hear from you again
Last time I talked to Mr. Cooke about information on combining accounts he told me I can't get a line increase and combine the accounts at the same time. He said he could do a line increase or combine the accounts with no line increase.
so... then get increases on all of them... then call back a month later and combine. He's done it in the past. perhaps their policy has changed. You don't have to go to the Exec dept to combine anyway.
I did an increase and combine at the same time in Jan 02....I'm wondering now...since I only have 1 account is do the same thing...open a new account and combine with the existing one..anyone ever done a second round of combining?
Does the account have to be open for any period of time? I have a 2 year old account and a 2 month old platinum I would like to combine. I also just recieved an app for a Kmart Platinum. It says that you can't be considered if you had an application with Cap One in the past 90 days. It used to be 45, so maybe they have had some changes.
