Well the subject says it all, no need to repeat it. Thanks again to all who helped me here. Thanks to Mr. Miller and Mr. Cooke too.

BTW Platinum is in BIG letters at the top of the card...Gotta love the look.

    Excellent!!!

    I am wondering your APR?

I saw an add in Outside Mag. this weekend for Cap 1 Platinum that had a 7.9% APR Fixed.

Thats the lowest I have seen for Cap One.

    Thanks everyone,

This was not unexpected. I had received many pre-approved platinum cards but did not accept because I didi not need a new card, and wanted to keep my Cap1 Classic (my oldest active tradeline) Mr Cooke upgraded that to Gold but could not upgrade to Platinum, but he told me he could combine the two to platinum if I applied and got one, so I finally accepted the application to apply.

My APR is unknown (honestly I can't see it anywhere on the forms or papers, I will look to see if I can find it)...but I am gonna have to call Mr. Cooke anyway for the combining which I will do before I use the card, I will find out all the details then.

Once again thanks for all the kind words.

    -Peace, Dave

Yes, the June issue of Outside has it.

I thought 8.9 was the bottom as well.

Carry The Great outdoors Platinum Card. Nifty outdoor scenes on it.
2.9 till feb 2003 then 7.9 fixed on everything. No Annual Fee. Offer good till 1/01/03

Somewear I read that Cap 1 has been giving their best customers a card with 7.9% fixed rate interest for 6 months now. It is by invitation only. They change the name of the card every once in a while. There was one with the winter olympics on it.

7.90% FOR ONLY 6 MONTHS IS NOT LONG ENOUGH...

Sorry guys, I screwed up without meaning to.

The cards have been offered for 6 months.

The fixed interest of 7.9% is forever.

I doubt these cards have a intro rate.

    Offered by invitation only.

Someone should call Cap 1 to find out more. Or write them a letter and ask for the 7.9% rate.

Others here with rotten credit seem to have gotten 8.9%. Why not 7.9% Ask for it. I intend to do this later on.

    King,

In April CAP ONE offered me a 2.9% Smart Switch until October .. AND I could request deposit of any amount up to the CL into our own checking account. As hubby had charged a boat load of stuff on the card for his employer I knew I would had to wait to get the balance to ZERO before I could take full advantage of this. However the DAY I talked to the customer service lady, I asked about a credit line increase so I could use the offer immediately.. ( not having to wait for the reimbersment process of hubby's work).. However, I was denied the increase because "it had not been 8 months since my last increase".. so I waited and got the check from hubby's employer paid it off and then asked for 3900 of my 4,000 credit line deposited into our checking acccount. It wasn't until later ( last week) that I noticed that in MAY would have been the 8th month since a credit increase.. So I wrote to Mr. COOKE using PFB on Friday.. He called me yesterday as I was in Wal-Mart.. He is giving me another 2k.. but unfornuately it will take 2 or 3 days to update so the 2.% smart switch offer will end. Mr. Cook said I could use the new credit line increase at the standard. 9.9.. nah, thanks. Oh.. well, I am set up for the next offer. ..

Now.. with the new CL of 6,000 Do you know if we will automatically be updated to some other card.. gold or something and might I get new 7.9% rate on such. I don't intend the balance to stay on CAP ONE beyond the 2.9% offer.. but just in case.

The add I viewed said 7.9 across the board fixed.
2.9 till Feb. '03. No annual fee.

It said for new accounts not new customers so I would think existing customers could qualify if they applied for a new account. It didnt say by invitation only, it gave a phone number.
