Wanted to challenge some mistakes on Equifax report. Got a screen saying they can't process dispute request because my zip is handled by CSC of Indianapolis. They give a phone number. I really don't want to call & have to talk to someone at this point. Don't they have a site, e-mail or fax ? Some way I can get dispute form & submit ... w/o calling ?

I live in Indy and the address I've always used for Equifax / CSC disputes is actually in Houston, TX.

    CSC Credit Services
    P. O. Box 674406
    Houston, TX 77267-4406.

As far as I know, the Indy office is just a small affliate office (I drive past it every day.) It wouldn't seem logical for them to handle disputes; but of course we're dealing with CRAs here.

    Greg,
Thank you. Do I have to call them to get a form & then send to the Texas address ?

P.S. I've never found any method to do online disputes if your acct is handled by CSC. I've always use CRRR mail for mine.

You can get updated reports for your EFX / CSC file from either Privista or Equifax's site, however.

The CRAs do have forms for disputes; but I never use them.

It sounds like you already have a copy of your EFX file. So, just send your CRRR letter with your identifying information (name, address, SSN, DOB.)

Then, list each item you want to dispute and the reason. If I want a DELETION, I use NOT MINE as the reason. CRAs basically categorize all disputes as NOT MINE or NEVER LATE. Don't give them a lot of info that may do their work (i.e. VERIFY the tradeline for them.) Rather, just state that it is inaccurate and say please delete.

Another tip, old addresses are often linked to accts. So, if you have previous addresses listed on your report, your FIRST dispute to them should be to remove the old addresses as incorrect. This is usually done with no problem. Then, when you challenge tradelines linked to that address, they are much more difficult to verify.

Finally, don't challenge too many things at once. I try to keep mine down to 3 items per letter to avoid by labelled "frivilous" or "attempting credit repair."

The CSC people are a bunch of morons. I hate calling them, but sometimes I just ahve to. They have messed up my address 5 times now--it's incorrect again but I can't bring myself to actually call them to tell them about it.

BTW, I have always faxed my disputes to CSC and I've never had any problems--they usually log them within 2-3 days. Their fax number is 281-878-1974.

    Thx, Matt.
