Somebody is exploiting the flaw in the board software - I'm getting pop ups every few pages. I'm not on any other site right now. :)

I am not getting any ads from creditnet, but if I don't have my popup stopper on, just about all sites are doing it.

    Hi Breeze,

What you are seeing is most likely the result of Javascript being used to delay the actual spawning of those windows. You must have picked it up while visiting another site. Creditnet does not use popup ads.

The only popup method we do employ is the ad window which is invoked *only* in response to clicking on a banner (or one of the directives in the Credit Cards and Credit Services sections.)

    Hope that helps!

    Sincerely,
    pbm

hmmmm, wierd. Maybe it was delayed stuff, but it sure seemed to be here. I was just reading along and pop!! I don't seem to be getting them now.

I havea popup killer, I just don't use it - sometimes it kills popups I need to see - alot of sites use them for information and stuff.

Just a thought. One way to reduce, but not eliminate popups is to set your browser security to prompt you for permission on 3rd party cookies. Most often, you'll want to block those, but once in a while, in business, you need to let them through, so rather than just automatically blocking them all, this allows you some flexibility.

It's indirect, but an awful lot of popups are cookie driven. Less cookies, less popups.

BTW, to edit those settings, in IE, go to Tools==>Internet Options==>Privacy

Hmmmmmm maybe I will try that. Problem I have with blocking popups is that once or twice I almost got into trouble when I missed important information a financial site had chosen to put into a popup, instead of on their regular page.

I've just adjusted my attitude, hehe, and I just click the ads into the background, and truck on.

I use yahoo, so I imagine I've got gazillions of cookies. If I want to be anonymous, I can. ;) I know how to throw the cookies out, hehe. I don't care - the information they get is worthless, IMO. Let 'em have it.

They use the stupid popups at work also. Now those are the ones that drive me nuts!!!

I use the Investors.com site and they have a lot of popups, I just turn my popup killer off when I want to get popups.
