Is pd w/ lates better than nothing?

Ok - I asked this yesterday - but I don't think my question was understood. Let me try again.

I have two loans from 2000 that are paid in full, however, on both there is a 60 days late 1 time and a 90 days late 1 time. I know if I dispute these with the CRAs, the bank will not even bother to respond and therefore, they will be deleted. (In the past, they have never responded to anything that wasn't still open.)

My question - scorewise - is it better to have a paid tradeline that shows late 60 and 90 days or would it be better for those two tradelines not to be on there at all? If the accounts were totally deleted, would it help my scores?

(By the way, I really was late on my payments, so disputing directly with the source will get me nowhere.)

    Thanks.

The penalty for the late pays vary. if they are old, then it wont help your score much. if they are recent, then we need to get them off. in any event, go ahead and dispute them with the bureaus as never being late. You need to try and keep those accounts on your report. Bank loans do tons for your score. make sure the accounts are closed through the bank. should say on your reports. if they are closed, less likely to get verified.

Are these your oldest accounts? If so, I would try the nutcase or the goodwill, whichever way you want to go.

If they aren't I would dispute them. You'd be surprised how much a 60 and 90 day late can hurt, obviously not as much as a chargeoff, but if this is all you have left on there for negs. then I would disput4e it.

Aside from my three charge-offs (I don't know how in the world I'll ever get rid of these... I have tried everything!!!) these are my only two derogs on TU. I just hate to dispute off two paid loans - but I also don't like the late pays.

Maybe I'll try the nutcase - which is what I am starting to feel like these days! Ha ha!

    Thanks.

    Girlie-
I had a similiar problem. Honda Finance was reporting a 60 day late on all 3 bureaus. When I disputed with all 3, EXP stayed the same, EQU changed to paid never late (jumped my score by ABOUT 10 points) and TU deleted the whole line, biggest score boost about 25 points. It was also my most RECENT neg. from 1/01.

I don't see how it can hurt.

Thanks KHM - that is exactly the kind of answer I was looking for. I know it can't look good to have those lates on there. But I also don't have a whole lot of positive history either - I do have my mortgage and my car loan has never been late. But then I have those dang charge-offs.

    Thanks again.

p.s. I am so happy things worked out this week! :)
