I just got my two cards in the mail today. I've called and activated them. Do I call and combine the two and try to upgrade to a plat sel now? OR... do I combine the two....wait a day then...upgrade to a plat. select? How did you guys do this? Just thought I would ask b/f I called.
Do it all at once...combine and turn into plat select. Tell them you thought about the airline travelling and you now think you will not be travelling as much as you thought you would. The Citi reps are great for this kind of thing. -Peace, Dave
Capital One has a policy that a card needs to be active for 6 months before they will combine accounts. Don't know about Citi.
Just call and play dumb. "Hey, thanks for the cards, but I just found out that having two new open accounts kinda hurts my credit scores. Is there any way we can just combine them both onto one? There is? That's great. And you mean to say the credit limit will be the TOTAL of the two? Terrific! Wow, that's as high as a platinum card. I wonder if it can be converted later. It can? Do I have to wait a certain period of time before I ask about that? No? You can do it right now? Cool!!" Ten minutes tops. Piece of cake. Congrats!
Thanks guys... I called.... the first rep told me she could ONLY do one transaction per day.....so... I would have to pick either an upgrade or a combo. So I told her I would think about it. I called right back... got a different rep. Done both at one time. Again....thanks

KC, that's not always the case with Cap One. I have opened three Cap One accounts within the past four months and have combined all three of them, along with one that is a couple of years old last month. Took me two tries to get it done, but it did get done. Mr. Cook is the BEST! L
I NAMED IT THE "BACK DOOR DOUBLE" because I was NEVER allowed in the FRONT DOOR...like I was a "SERVANT" (use the "MAID'S" entrance in the BACK!!!) If you like "CITIBANK SHUFFLE" fine use it...

But we all know it's really some wild credit/ sex thing.... ;o) Ya know... the more I think about it (and I have thought about it), the more I really like this whole Back Door Double idea.
