    Email from Equifax

That's it. I am cancelling the service, and I will tell them if they split my file, and that causes me problems, because their system can't accomodate a product they sell, I will definitely sue them. This is insane.

I received the same email from EQ! I sent them a message very similar to yours. Basically, if they split my file, then I'll sue their a$$e$.

I may be paranoid about privacy, BUT I wonder if there is any way of finding out if this problem is prevelant with NON creditnetters also. It may be that those who have traceable isp's and/or e-mail addresses are getting put on a computer program "blacklist"

TELL THEM GO TO THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST AND START DELEATING ALL INQUIRES UNTIL THEY GET TO JANUARY 2002 AND STOP...IF IT WORKS FINE...IF NOT...KEEP DELEATING!!!

OMG!!! That is the same e-mail I received after signing up for their services and they did, after repeated telephones calls, not only split my file, but a lot of the old deleted crap is now reappearing. My score, when it can be pulled by merchant, not by me, has dropped from 646 to 549 in less than 6 weeks. Was told nothing could be done. HELLO>> I lost over $60,000 equity on a RE deal because of this problem..Roni

Coming from a person whose file is now SPLIT, you do not want to join the "Split File Club." You can not access a score anywhere. You can't get a report online anywhere. Furthermore, if you apply for credit, the lender only gets Part 2 of 2. Guess what part 2 of 2 is......211 Equifax generated inquiries!!!!!

I just got off the phone, after THREE hours of "no it is CSC's fault, no it is Equifax's fault, no REALLY it is CSC's fault, blah, blah, blah." I STILL CAN NOT ACCESS MY FILE. A direct quote from a manager at CSC "This file is a mess!"

I told both CSC and Equifax that I would 100% absolutely, positively file a lawsuit against both of them TODAY over this very issue. They both said "so sorry you feel that way, but it is not our fault."

I don't remember ever being so mad or so caught in a massive web of red tape! This is ridiculous!

Now, I am off to file my small claims lawsuit!

Roni, you and I are leading paralell lives here. You and I have exactly the same problem. Believe me when I tell you this.....YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED WITHOUT FILING A LAWSUIT!! I assume, because you mentioned Merchant, that you must go through a local affiliate for Equifax. If this is the case, your situation just gets more complex.

Actually, I have had time to cool off a little from my morning on the phone between CSC and Equifax. This is actually a good thing (gotta look for the silver lining, right?)! I, too, had MULTIPLE reinsertions after the file was split. I am going to sue Equifax and CSC for each of the reinsertions and for the lack of access to my credit report. YOU HAVE A GREAT CASE TOO! You have damagse of $60K. Don't screw with this, Roni. Just file your suit.

How fast can you say Nelson v Chase Manhattan? I know, I know. They're an original creditor, not a credit reporting agency. But, I'll just bet that the reasoning applies anyway. Screw up my credit and cost me demonstrable damages, incur liability. I'd talk to a lawyer. Fast.

George, it is so easy to say "start deleting inquiries until it works." Get on the phone with these morons and see how far you get with that statement. It is 100% finger pointing and blaming someone else--they do, however, acknowledge that the problem is the inquiries! I knew it from this board. It just took me 3 months to get them to admit it.

I know that UYGF is the infamous Unless You're GEORGE Factor, because MarkLA and I came up with that acronym. But, I must admit that I'm stumped by UGYF. Is that Unless GEORGE is Your Father? Unless GEORGE YELLS Frantically? Unless GEORGE YAMMERS Frenetically? Oh wait... I guess that last one applies more to me. ;)

Why Chat, Megasun is on AOL so they can't trace her ISP. I don't think it's that - at least not in this case.

The issue is that they are marketing an unlimited service when their technology does not support it. In order to continue to allow "access" to their "service" they have to screw up your credit file.

    Idiots.

I gave them instructions to cancel my subscription, and quit "working" on my file so that it will fit. They better not split it.

I don't have anything they can reinsert, but my lawsuit will not be small claims, it will not be pro se, and I will definitely have damages.

Without a doubt, you've got them. I'm just waiting to see what happens. I was about to apply for a loan to finish my basement. I know they'll pull EQ. I was going to wait until the beginning of August when my Cap One cards are reporting 0 balances but I think I may apply this week and if I get denied, then I'll have some concrete damages as well.

I have been looking at beach condos, getting ready to get a mortgage. :) I would much rather have the condo than a lawsuit, but whatever....

If that's the way they want it, we can go that way. Between Equifax, if they split my file, and Experian, with Citi and AmEx accounts both screwed up, it should be interesting.

A beach house! Sounds lovely... I promised my wife one someday. I'll get there. Just taking it a day at a time.

Just an update. I just tried to access my EQ report via Credit Watch. I was able to pull on Monday, but started getting the 'busy system' message yesterday. I got the email from them yesterday about having to split my file to access my report online. I shot off a message stating to NOT split my file. This morning I attempted to access my file and got the 'busy system' message again. I tried again a few minutes ago and received..... "Error 45D". LOL! This is almost becoming amusing to me.

I was watching Dateline NBC last night about a woman who sued Sears and scored a nice settlement over their telemarketing calls. Something relatively minor and she scored big. (Especially when Sears tried to counter-sue her, idiots!) You think I won't go after them for somthing like this? I just Tivo'd a local show the other night with our Attorney General discussing identity theft and how important it is for us to monitor our credit. I'm sure he'll be interested in hearing how the CRA is denying access for a PAID service. At first, I wanted to avoid a lawsuit. Now, I'm getting kind of excited about it!
