    Man, is it small.

I'm referring to our new house that's just now being built. When my wife and I drove by the site the other day, we were really taken aback by how small the place looked. Granted, so far they only completed the foundation and a portion of the basement wall that's roughly chest-high, but the overall footprint of the place looks--from the road, at least--scarcely larger than a tollbooth in comparison to the other houses. In fact, we had to do a double-take to make sure it wasn't someone else's detached garage, or something.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it just an eye trick, or are we really about to spend the next thirty years paying for a glorified toolshed?

I felt like this when they were building our home. The size of the basement looked small to me and so did the garage, until they put up the rest of the home.

When they put up the home everything looked alot bigger, until they put all the drywall up and it looked small again. ;)

Basically it is just an eye trick. You get use to it once you move in. Especially when you have to go up two flights of stairs carrying two loads of laundry to get from the basement to the bedroom (with the cat trying to trip you). ;)

That's good to know. I was beginning to feel a little, uh, inadequate... :)

Your cat sleeps on the stairs too???

...OF ALL THE PLACES TO SLEEP...

I wish he slept on the stairs, maybe I would have more room in bed at night.

Unfortunately, my cat is trying to kill me, or at least break my leg. I knew he was evil when I got him. But, that's okay I have learned how to get him back - sometimes I buy him the Kmart brand cat food instead of Fancy Feast. That will show the little devil. ;)

    LOL

I used to have two dogs and three cats (that's when I lived in a house - not the one bedroom apt I'm in now).
Anyhoo - strangely - the cats were the ones who ruled the household - my wimpy dogs were afraid of them. Never understood what was up with that

My dog is AFRAID of the cat too...

If the cat is at the top of the stairs where he "HANGS OUT"...the dog will go out the dog door (1/2 flight up from basement) even if he wants to eat or drink...

I have a golden retriever / shepherd mix. It's a female. 8 years old. She has one heck of a bark. But can be tamed with a cookie. (she loves them).

I can also be tamed with a cookie, but I prefer Mrs. Fields. ;)

    I'll remember that Dani.

    -------------> Off to Mrs. Fields.

Now my dogs name is "Pumpkin". To "tame" her, I say "Pumpkin, who wants a <insert pause> cookie!" That's all it takes.

    back from Mrs. Fields <----------------

Dani, I've got a cookie for you. LOL :)

Have you tried the "cowboy cookies" from Publix? They are delicious and they are store brought. I feel the same way but try the cowboy cookies, they are really good!
