Can an OC who sold a charged off debt accept payment on the debt?

Um why would you want to do that? They no longer own the debt. Is it being reported on your credit report by them?

Not if they don't own the debt.

Why are you looking to pay them (OC)?

not looking to pay them, just trying to see if there is anything left to try before small claims. They have violated the FCRA many times over the past year and even though they are an OC, I believe they are also covered by the FDCPA since they have in-house collectors. My thinking is that surely since they have sold the account and cannot even collect on it, they won't bother to try to come and fight me in court. I would think they would just settle for deletion in exchange for me not filing the lawsuit but it appears they are going to be stubborn so I will probably end up filing Monday or Tuesday. Just wanted to be sure of my options.
