You get a lot of strange looks when you use the card. Most people look closely at the front and the back of the card because they have never seen it before. I get comments on how cool it looks and some ask what JCB is.

My credit limit is $5,000. They are pretty conservative with credit limits.

You can't really tell by looking at the website, but the design on the Standard card is pretty cool looking in my opinion. There is also a cashback feature. You get $1.00 for each $100 you spend in a billing cycle and there is no annual fee.
I think you would enjoy the card. :)

I don't know about "cool" but, I have always had my cards looking VERY different from each other. I use one card ONLY for internet shopping, another ONLY for shopping, another ONLY for restaurants and one for travel expenses. That way, if a discrepany pops up or a dispute on something, I always know which account it is on.

Interesting. I've never thought about applying for a JCB, but looking on their website I see that some of my favorite restaurants take the card, plus Borders--gotta love Borders.

There might be some serious card envy from my coworkers if I procured one of these. Looks like they waive the annual fee if you use your card semi regularly--this true?
    Hmmmmmmmmm....

I wonder why their credit lines are so small. You would think that a card meant primarily for travel to Japan and for use in Japan would carry a hefty CL.

I actually think that I would enjoy the JCB card. It is different and it seems to function like a Visa/MC. Maybe the limits are higher for Japanese card holders.

I forgot a couple of cool looking dept store cards. The Nordstrom store card is gorgeous. It is real shiny with an allover hologram. I don;t like the store that much, but I love the card. The classic Bergdorf Goodman card is very attractive in white with purple and a view of the fountain on 57th st in NYC. I also like the look of the Lord & Taylor card. Its rose, although very feminine looking, is very classy, classic, attractive, and not ostentatious, --kind of the like the store itself.
