For those who have a Capital One platinum card: When calling in through the automated system, does it give you a credit line increase option right after it gives you your balance and last payment info?
Hi mindcrime2, yes it does give the option for a credit limit increase/balance transfers/pin selection. This option is available after it gives you your last payment info.
Thanks jr. So this is just a normal option that you get to select anytime then I suppose? Here I thought they were ready to give me a credit line increase after only having the card a few months.
Yes, the option for a credit line increase is always there. Just remember that you can only request credit line increases every six months.
Thanks again jr. I knew it was every six months for the classic and gold cards, wasn't sure about the platinum. Boy, every I call in the check my balance, I'll be tempted to select the credit line increase option. LOL
Oh I know it. I've had accounts with C1 for years. Highest one time credit line increase was $500, I believe. Small, but they've been good to me, so I don't complain.
I understand mindcrime, I guess their philosphy is that with the small increases they tend to have lower losses. As long as you're happy stick with them.
If you press the option for credit line increase, you will be transfered to a representative. If you have only had the cap1 platinum card for a few months, you can get an increase. I do believe 500 is the max. Now, once you get the increase, you must wait six months before another.
I have a new Platinum card, and a kind CSR told me without my prompting that my chances for a line increase were significantly greater if I asked for it while doing a BT.
Thanks for the tip Christi. They've never pulled a report for an increase yet, so I may just give it a shot.
