My sister has this Optima product: http://www66.americanexpress.com/cards/Fmacfservlet?csi=8/0/b/3/0/158171256310/0/n&from=0 She's had it for less than a month. Can she product transfer? If so, what are the product options? Thanks. CardKid *M*: How could you? ...and without consulting me?
Does she have an account history with Amex longer than one month? They usually will product transfer from 6 months to a year - they just like seeing a stable account history with their company. I know they will allow Optima to transfer to Delta Skymiles. I would also consider Starwood and Blue (not sure if they allow this though). Dani
cardkid Yup - I think you can - and I don't think the one month is a problem. Call Amex's MORE dept. at 1-800-947-8192 and tell them you want to CONVERT your card (not APPLY). If the rep answering the phone says they don't do that - hang up and call again - they do it - but not all of the reps are aware of the process.
Thanks for your help. I'll pass it on. By the way, I have the Starwood card. Could I product transfer or split my line into two cards? CardKid
CK- As far as I know - you can split your line between 2 cards - if you have those two cards already. In other words - i have a Blue and a Delta Skymiles Gold - I've transferred credit limits back and forth between the cards without a problem. Yes - you can convert an existing optima product to another optima product - at the number i gave you in the previous post.
Just tried converting my Blue card to Starwood via the MORE number, and was told that "because of the smart chip," that can't be done. LOL. They said any other cards could convert. I suspect they really don't want folks unhappy with the ending of the Blue BVG program to move to another card which has this program.
update: CSR, MCS, and MORE says NO product transfers FROM Blue to ANY other Amex card save Gold Charge, because of rewards program issues. Would welcome any thoughts of how to get around this...
does a gold or a platinum amex look any better than a regular green amex on a credit report? i don't really want to pay more than $55 a year...but I will if it will help my credit score briana
MORE doesn't do product conversions. MCS does. Blue can be converted to the Cash Rebate series. An Optima card can be converted to a Starwood (great card!) but not a a Blue. Saar
I wonder if their policy has changed on this? It's certainly possible that the 2 MCS reps I talked with got it wrong. As Saar mentioned on another thread, perhaps dumping the rewards program would allow for a conversion from Blue.
I WAS APPROVED FOR AMEX GOLD DELTA~~~IF I LET THEM STEAL (THEFT) SOME OR ALL OF MY BLUE CREDIT LIMIT FOR THE GOLD DELTA!!! I chose to DECLINE their "GENEROUS" offer!!!
