For me, this thread wasn't or isn't a waste of time! There's some important clarifications coming from this evolving thread, especially the importance of letting PBM handle the troll issues. Lots of good points have been stated...and eloquently, I might add.

OK. I give up. Whos IP is that? BTW- How do you do an IP search to find out where a user lives?

Nana, You know me...I did say "wasted my time" but that was not what I meant to say...maybe I said it wrong, I never meant it was a waste of time...what I tried to convey was that, put in perspective, Jude took only 30 seconds of my time...the rest of the discussion about "Jude being a troll" took waaaaay more. I recant the use of the phrase "wasted my time" it was far from my intent.

Look, the bottom line is we have got to stop this troll accusation. Lest we turn CreditNet into McarthyEraNet.

I enjoy new posters and the fact that 1 out of 50 turns out to be here under false pretenses does not bother me one bit...bring em on.

I use visualrouter to trace IP addresses here is the site:http://visualroute.visualware.com/.

It is virtually impossible to trace a dial-up address as people who use dial-ups such as aohell, crap-u-serve and MessyNetService get a new ip address everytime they connect.

If someone has a dsl connect or a connect thru a network these ips can be logged and tracked as their ip's are not dynamic.

Therefore the ip address assigned and logged here at creditnet for a dial up user will never be a permanent ip address.

In answer to nanc's question my best guess is that 64.12.102.33 must have run off with 205.188.209.37 and I for one hope they are very happy together (I have no idea who 64.12.102.33 is but the other is jude60).

I use dial up, and a local provider - my IP address will always lead to the same provider in a city near me. It is those who use national ISP services that are impossible to trace. Even then, there are some programs that can find out about them if they don't have some kind of privacy software installed.

What can be traced is people connecting to creditnet from a corporate network. That is what I have referred to when I said PBM can see who is connecting.

As to who is a troll and who is not - those of us who know each other speculate behind the lines sometimes, and probably always will, but I think caution is advised when making a public accusation.

Enough. It has been over-discussed anyway.
