OK ladies and gentlemen, in other words, the experts, I'm going to try and apply for my first prime card, or should I? Scores below. I have a Cap One never late and Providian, never late, with a Marshall Fields, Target and Kohls. Never late. I don't want to waste an inquiry on a denial. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I was going to attempt this tonight. THanks again and everyone have a great weekend. I'm very excited because Experian deleted a past 120 day late/ pre-foreclosure entry from my former mortgage company so I want to try and get a decent card before it finds it's way back on and with the kind of luck I have, it will. Scored. EQ 722 EX 710 TU 728, I know that's not valid but that's what they show.
I would definitel go for the citi cards (bdd); I would try to amex too, if you have no derogs.. delta sky miles or blue but since I am still stuck in subprime land, get an answer from someone with prime cards!
I believe you may be approved for Bank of America Platinum or Citibank Platinum Select. They pull Equifax- your best report(score).
kozman - without trying to sound overly optimistic - with a score over 700 I believe you'll be able to be approved for most prime cards (as long as you don't have a bk within the last seven years) I'd go for Chase - they check TU - almost exclusively - or Bank of America - which in my neck of the woods checks Experian - but it might be different where you are. Good luck and congrats! Mark LA
Also, would it matter if the mortgage was still being reported on EQ and TU. I know the EX score isn't the highest, 710, but it has the mortgage completely removed. Would any of these cards care about that or would they just look at the score? Thanks again, sorry so chatty, just excited.
Having paid mortgage is big plus. You better use your report where it's shown- EQ or TU. Citibank or Bank of America is ideal to apply for in your case.
I am 708 with Equifax. How do you know for sure that Citi Select pulls Equifax? I have to stay away from Experian right now. My Citi AT&T Universal Card Plat pulled Transunion which is OK too but my score was only 635 and I still got approved.
Diane, I did not say I know for sure Citibank pulls Equifax. It depends on kozman's location. Citibank always pulls Equifax for me in FL.
I'm in OH if it makes any difference. The EQ and TU show a paid mortgage but they have the statements "legally paid for less than payoff amount" or something like that. They are paid but very negative. EX deleted the entire tradeline.
OK, went with BofA and applied with approximately 1500 dollars in BT request from 3 accounts. They advise pending, check back in 24 hours. Has anyone received this message before? Is it just a precursor to the "We would like to thank you for applying with file in the blank, BUT.......
