I pulled my Equifax Credit Report last night for the first time. My problem is I have a Discover card thats been charged off for years and it states "consumer disputes account -says not his/hers". Problem is I've never disputed, contacted, anyone. What does this mean? I'm preparing to start my credit repair. Is this going to hurt me?
Hey, I wonder if Discover is reporting this incorrectly on purpose? I read in a thread, (I cannot find it), that some creditors and collection agencies will list incorrect items on your report, with the hope you will contact them to correct, and that is when they will try to get you to pay. Also, Discover is bad about re-aging accounts. (I know first hand) ;-( I do not know how you would handle this situation, but at least I got your post moved up, so someone who perhaps has the answer can help Good luck.....
at one point I had a discover card, and they are just like sears..(same company? dunno) they will do anything and everything to get you to pay them, legal or not. I don't know the answer, but.. bump.
how old is the chargeoff, is it past the sol? how much is it? this is a violation already, since the furnisher is incorrectly reporting the account. is the amount correct? are the dates correct? look for any othe inaccuracies!
