Hey Doc, I've gotten credit repair stuff like that in my hotmail account with my own hotmail address on it. I know i didn't send it to myself! I personally think that there are alot of these people extracting emails from this site and sending out spam to people whom the think will want credit repair ..
George, I don't know the mechanics of it, but I know that you can download software to do just that, extract addresses from sites. They can then send you email, or use another program to insert one of the extracted emails into the "from" area of the email so that the spam appears to be coming from that individual, when it isn't. Wow. I am amazed that you pay that much attention to your spam. I may have gotten email from this party. Who knows? I get almost 200 spams a day in my email box, 99 percent of which I delete without even opening. If the subject smells like spam, I kill it. If I don't recognize the sender, I kill it. I get about 10 legit emails, and 190 or so spams a day. What I do every morning is open my mail and select all the mail to be deleted. Then I browse the subjects and senders and undelete those I know and trust. Everything else ends up in the bit-bucket. Takes me about 2 minutes a day. One other trick I do is to perform this screening using my email server's HTML client. The benefit to this is that the body of emails and any attatchments are never downloaded to my PC. The spams are killed while still sitting on my ISP's email server. This speeds things up because this data is never transmitted over my Internet connection, so I am able to kill 95 percent of the data associated with my email account before it is ever sent to my computer. Once screened, I then use my normal email client on my PC to fetch and transmit legitimate emails against my email account at the ISP. This keeps things nice and clean for me.
